New Bed - where to avoid?

Thinking of buying a new bed, and take away the old one. Probably going for 'pocket-sprung' - I imagine the more pockets the better?
After problems with Harveys, first on the list to avoid is Bensons Beds ( a sister company).
But who else to avoid? What are your experiences? Any recommendations?

Bought our king size divan from dreams, quite impressed with them actually. Delivered on time, and they give 8 year guarantee on their beds (so they say!)0

Local bed shop? Do you have Leekes where you live? They've always been good for us. John Lewis.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

What problems did you have with Harveys?
We have always bought from Dreams and Bensons and have never had any problems with delivery or the quality of the products.0 -
My previous bed I got from Dreams, and all was fine. It lasted about 10 years. I then got my current bed, and initially went back to the same branch of Dreams.
The staff there had changed, and I was subjected to a really pushy salesman. I did not buy from there, but went to Bensons, and am very happy with the bed. Sprung mattress with some memory foam on the top.
I think it really boils down to the staff at the local branch, how pushy they are, and whether they let you have the time you need to make a decision in your own time.
Wherever you choose, go and have a look and try some beds on your first visit. Then go home and look up reviews online for the beds you have shortlisted.
This gives you time to make sure you order the bed you want.0 -
I bought a divan base from an online place (ottoman with end lift), really nice headboard from Dreams and then a mattress from John Lewis. It depends what you're after - frame or divan?
Obviously being a moneysavingsite, if you go to Dreams then view instore and come home and order via topcashback0 -
Bought mine from Warren Evans recently and love it. Once you order online you have a real person who calls you and runs through everything. My second choice would have been on from Swoon, I got a few samples from them and they had some good designs at the time.0

Some people have no problem, but if you do - watch out, little support for customer service, once they have your money that's it - IMO.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -

Yes, I agree that I wouldn't buy sofas from the likes of Harveys and DFS. I bought my from John Lewis.
But I have always bought beds from Dreams and Bensons. My friend has bought 6 beds from Bensons in the last 3 years at different times as he has a couple of rental properties and has never had a problem.
I have bought beds and mattresses from Dreams as they sell OBC bedsteads and Tempur mattresses and, again, have never had a problem. Infact, they were very accommodating when I changed my mind about the bedstead I wanted several weeks after placing my order.0 -
Why not look for a decent bed, that should last a life time.
then you only need to replace the mattress each time.
This is one area where throwing some money at a decent one can save in the long run, a good one will last so much longer.
We have a Tempur and a Vi-spring, between them they are a going to see us out. been on the Tempur over 13y and no signs of that deteriorating yet.
Got them both in a Furniture Village clearance. £900 for both.0 -

We have a Warren Evans bed and mattress. The mattress is great but we've had nothing but trouble with the base. They've replaced the headboard three times and the whole bed once. It still wobbles about and squeaks alarmingly. Wouldn't buy another one."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
