It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Today has been a busy and (hopefully) productive day...
My home brewery kit arrived today (and there was much rejoicing...)
There were no instructions... (cue lamentations, wailing, gnashing of teeth and sack-cloth and ashes etc...)
HOWEVER, there were instructions on the included beer recipe, all was not lost and my friendly home micro brewing gurus came round to give me a hand ... (much rejoicing again)
We or rather I, cos said gurus made me do everything cos apparently, "true brew knowledge comes from doing it thy bloody self, my son"...
So, I, ahem, now have about 14 pints worth of Ale brewing as I type
Ten days in the Fermentation Vessel (FV) and then it gets bottled for a minimum of two weeks of bottle conditioning before[STRIKE] I[/STRIKE] it can [STRIKE]get[/STRIKE] be drunk...
This is a very MSE way of saving money on beer as it works out at approx. 50p a pint
So, everything crossed that this first brew goes well and I can soon move on to the special stuff, actual recipe making and really brewing my own beers... although some of the beer kits are bloody good recipes in themselves.
The one I was given is "Bewitched" and is apparently an Amber Ale...
My friends make their own recipes and are VERY good brewers. Some are very simple mixes of established kit recipes, they simply buy two or three of them and mix with other ingredients to produce about three FV's worth (approx. 40 pints) of premium micro-brewed Ale...
Others they actually buy all the individual and specific types of ingredients, malt, hops, barley, yeasts etc.
They have tea-urns that they have converted to use as FV's for specific brews and a lot of good and expensive gear... BUT they started out, same as me, with a wee basic kit. They still use their basic kits as well...
Thanks for reading folks. Have a lovely evening

My brother used to brew his own beer, it was awful - but then I'm not a beer drinker. You'd probably think it was delicious0
