    Talking of scones there was a piece on the tv a couple of weeks ago about how to make your own clotted cream. Its something which would be nice to try. Shame my scones are like bricks.:o

    Hello UC. I've been meaning to ask if your wee Mammy has a recipe for Clootie Dumpling. It's one of my best childhood memories (with the six penny pieces wrapped in grease proof paper), My mother refused to give her recipe to anyone and now it's lost. I would love to make it if I can get an authentic Glasgow recipe. I suspect though that it's a bit like stovies - as many recipes as there are people who make it.

    Very true, every family has their own (usually) closely guarded recipe for stovies or clootie dumpling.
    I haven't yet came across it in my Grans' recipes, will have a look for you and send it you in a PM if I find it
