    Hiya WannbeFree :D
    Thanks
I shopped around and my life insurance is a very good one that I'm happy to keep going with ;)
I will be looking to save on my car insurance when it is due again, as I should be able to get a better deal on that.

Do you rent from a local authority. Sometimes they offer cheap contents insurance which is paid with rent.

    Hi Toni'sfriend :D

Yes, renting from council. Thanks. I'll look into this, as I think they do, if you're up to date and pay your rent by Direct Debit...
Yes, they do, so I'll see if I can get that in place as soon as I can.

Good news - we got a raise...

Bad news - Due to the recent rise in rent and council tax it has been cancelled out...

...one hand giveth and the other taketh away... *sigh*

Ach, well, looking on the bright side, I've broke even and I'm no worse off

There may be a further raise due to changes in tax, not counting on it tho

It is hard. A lot of people in my current place have gained from the rise in minimum wage, but lose it to the increase in pension contributions Most are part time so don't pay tax so they don't gain from that increase but they still have the extra council tax and rent to pay. For some the only option is to opt out of the pension which is such a shame.

Anyone use Monzo? Thinking of using it as my spending account so I can more accurately track my spending...

I've used Starling for about 6 months and have been happy with them. The transaction analysis is good and you can do saving 'pots'. I have mine set to round any transaction up and put the difference into a Xmas spends pot. It is in a silo so you don't see the amount in your spendable balance but it still earns interest.

    Thanks Lucifa73 :D

I've looked at both and Monzo seems to be the one for me, so far anyway ;)

The Monzo account lets you do similar and set up pots for different things on it and keeps them seperate from your available spend... I like that :D

So, my three pot system will become a four pot system, for a wee while anyway...
