Have you asked if they will compensate you for the discounts you lose out on waiting for the electric part of your account to become available online?
Yes - I emailed and got the response:
"We will ensure you do have enough Powerpacks to cover your usage with us until your account opens, so you will not have to pay the baseline rate. If you do not achieve the Top Shopper Rate however as there are not enough Powerpacks to cover your usage, we will look at crediting your account to get you down to the Top Shopper Rates."0 -
@Umiamz I think that's a fair and reasonable response from Powershop - it's just a case of sitting tight and waiting.0

Called them again yesterday saying it was over a month since I submitted the electricity meter reading and was told it should be "a week or so". 45 minutes later I got an alert saying my electricity account was now ready.
Unfortunately, the available powerpacks don't completely cover it, but I'm only £8 behind. Hopefully there will be some more specials over the next few days which will take care of it.
Good to have it all sorted now, though.0 -
I Expect a pack will be announced this weekend. Further packs released on Jan 1. However I'd definately list the packs you've missed out on and ask if you can purchase them now as you would have purchased them at the time if they had given you access to the shop. Especially as you are short of the necessary credit to cover this month's bill. Don't purchase standard (sorry baseline) electricity under any circumstances as its so expensive . If you can't resolve it and you are still short at bill time powershop will then buy the minimum necessary for you to cover your usage.0

Why not scrap the packs and offer the lowest price?0

The same reason why the various redemption items, etc that retailers offer have to be claimed. Not everyone will buy them (or forget) and they make money.0

The third Powershop special christmas powerpack has been released today - nice discount of 53% but pitiful amount of electricity, just over a day's worth in my case.
First special Xmas pack gave me 7 days worth of power, last weeks around 3 days and now just over 1 day - looks like Scrooge took over the marketing team!0 -
Yes I noticed that. Not very much electricity in today's pack at all a mere £4.31 worth and my projected monthly cost has soared to £42.84. Last month it was £26.94. I expect it to reduce come January 1 with release of further hefty discounts on powerpacks. Without the heavy discounts powershop won't be the cheapest for me. Utility point up energy saver is a fixed tariff which would cost me £29.94 a month.0
