Thanks everyone for checking in. I’ve realised that things could continue in a holding pattern for quite a while but that life moves on. I need to be more engaged with that. So, it’s the first of the month with a third of the year left. It’s time to figure out what needs done and then get started. I’ve been bunkering down trying to avoid things as much as possible but this cannot continue. On Thursday I met a friend for lunch. This is something I’ve been avoiding but I realised that I need people and people need me. On Saturday I tried for those concert tickets, without knowing what funds were available, but didn’t lose sleep when I failed to get these.
i Also put some books that were scattered around the house away and took soft plastics for recycling while using a money off voucher that expires today.
today I had my weekly weighin and am gratified and relieved to find my weight, that had been steadily climbing, is back in the 11 category. Our pb target has had steady progress despite not doing our bills transfer this month. This is because we had a builder call over on Thursday to look at work that needs done and we are waiting to find out what’s possible and what likely costs will be. As a minimum, we should soon be able to remove the feature bucket carefully positioned to catch drips in our kitchen. It’s been in situ for more than 3 months. It might be a big ask but we are hopeful that the work costs can be met from money at hand plus the bank account based emergency funds. If that happens we should be able to end the year transferring money from the isa to pb to get us into 80% towards our target. This will of course be dependent on how things play out with the offspring and with extended family members. While hiding, I’ve kept up to date with diaries, close to the point of obsession, and am impressed by the progress people are making. I’ve also engaged with paid for counselling which I think is helping. As with every other day, I need to get my a$$ into gear. Today I am grateful for

Lovely to 'see' you again. Hope everything is as well as it can be.
Great if you can pay for the builder without dipping into savings."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -

It's good to hear from you again. I hope the builder is available soon and isn't too costly. Much as I am intrigued by the idea of a 'feature bucket', it's not what you want longer term.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks for the welcome back everyone. Yesterday turned into a spendy day. I met friends for coffee, one of the others paid. Since I was close to sainsbugs I nipped in to talk advantage of their half price Heinz offer. I emerged £54 poorer but did get quite a lot for stores along with some whoopsied items. Apart from that, yesterday was a highly unproductive day with little done. Today I need to make inroads to work with lots on my to do list. I really need to get started.
