I suppose that if you transplant the plant in the pot you can decided if you like it in that spot, then plant it if you decide to keep it there. You sound likr you have a lovely garden.

Today got underway with sausage sarnies prepared by OH along with a bucket of tea.

Mentioning sausage sandwiches and lots of tea in the second line of a post will soon be against the law I hope...:)

  • Not sure if I've mentioned here before but I have very very plain food tastes. Just bog standard indigenous food works for me. Anyhow, another week is underway but I feel rotten due to a poor night's sleep. Still, need to get things on the go. I have overseas relatives arriving end of aug / start of sept and so much needs done. Last night, I ordered a pair of curtains from the next sale via tcb as they were offering a £2.50 bonus. These are needed to replace the incredibly faded 15 year old ones in the room I now have as my office. Hopefully, they will also give the room a lift.
I have requested click and collect to reduce delivery costs.
Today I will make a big list of the things that need done before my house guests arrive. Unfortunately, quite a bit of this will require an outlay which I was hoping not to have until I managed some income. However, all of these things will need done for next year's big project so there's no additional cost.
Right, think I better stop with my sleep deprived ramblings. Hole it was no fun being an incredibly young mum, at least disturbed sleep hit when I was more physically able for it. Don't know how people my age cope with young kids.

  • I can be the same when it comes to food.

Sleep deprivation is the ultimate worst thing ever.

I'm wondering if the lack of sleep was due to having a 'to do' list running through your head? If that's so, I know people recommend writing things down (pen and paper by the bed) so you don't forget but your brain tells you you've done something about it.

It sounds as though you have a lot to do and the early spending, while planned for, may end up being lost in the mists of time as you approach the point where you originally meant to spend it (IYSWIM). Can you write it into your budget in a long-term way, maybe spreading it over a few future months, so it doesn't turn into an overspend?

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen some DIY and home boards on here somewhere, though I haven't visited. I'm wondering if you could post your projects either there or on your diary, and challenge people to cut the costs for you? There are lots of savings to be had if you happen to be good with your hands, or even good with Youtube :D.

Perhaps older parents just prioritise things differently, and a 'nap' or a 'snooze' or an early night takes precedence over 'socialising', 'volunteering', 'leisure shopping' or 'housework'................ ;) I expect there are lots of pressures for young parents to 'keep up', which on top of looking after a child, must be equally exhausting.

  • Cherry, I'm afraid to look for ideas in case they spark my home & garden tendencies! The kind of stuff I'm talking about is painting the partially replastered ceiling repaired after dd's foot came through from the loft, sanding and painting kitchen after a leaking pipe did it's worst, etc. things that are pretty much necessary but I'm absolutely useless at anything practical other than hand sewing which is why it all gets put off. The entire house needs a good clean too.

We still haven't got a budget for the big project as we are struggling to get estimates and align these with our ideas of what we will do.

Yesterday, I finished off, as far as I could, the outstanding piece of work and emailed to remind of the need for a meeting. Today I'm running OH into work as he's got an ear infection and I'd sooner he wasn't hanging around waiting on buses. Then I'll hit m&s to use up my vouchers and see what whoopsies there might be. After that, I will see what I can get sorted in the house. At least the thought of guests has given me a target to aim for. Today I need to put diesel in the car. I resent buying this in the north so it'll just be a quarter tank to keep me going until I get a job booked in over the border.
Anyhow, gotta get going if himself is to make it into work. Hope everyone has a great day
