Money Moral Dilemma: Should I report shoddy service from an engineer?
Comments

If the MoneySaver in question isn't an expert on TV's, how do they know that the TV engineers opinion that someone else needs to come out is unneccessary.0

You pay a callout fee for the engineer,he fails to fix the tv and says pay again for another engineer to have a go.What if the second engineer cant fix it and so on?How many call out fees are you expected to pay?You should call the company imediately and let them know the engineer has failed to fix it,they should then send out another one at no extra cost.Don't feel guilty at all about him and his hardluck stories, just think yourself lucky it wasn't a GAS issue.Incompetant so called engineers need weeding out so as we can all feel confidant that whenever they knock on our door they know what there doing.0

I would complain, tell the company I will not be subjected to this kind of emotional blackmail and and I would also tell them that i was reporting this kind of pressure to my Council's Trading Standards department.0

Refuse to pay for shoddy, incompetent service. Send them packing and claim compensation for wasting your time.0

Yes, otherwise he'll continue his bad work.0

Ask for the call out fee to be refunded because the problem isn't fixed and inform the company that the professional that they selected to come out has advised you that you need to call someone else. How they then choose to proceed is up to them. There is no need to make a complaint, just a request that you should only have to pay one call out charge per problem. If they appear to disagree advise them that you will be charging them per hour for the time that you have had to remain in the house waiting for their chosen operative and for the time that he was there working unsuccessfully.0

Sounds like your being stitched up. I could be wrong, but I can't say I've heard of a company that docks pay for bad feedback. Not convinced that's legal. Anyway his pay is of no concern to you, you've received bad service from a assume the company you pay for a TV service from and you are entitled to complain about bad service. In your complaint I'd also mention the emotional blackmail. Sounds like you were his last call and he wanted to go home. Complain away, ur paying for a shoddy service because he can't/doesn't want to do his job.0

This is an workman who is obviously not good as he should be at his job trying to encourage you to provide him with a higher feedback than he has earned when you tell the truth you dont have to think so be honest it wont come back to haunt you . be tactful but truthful and if possible ask the question if the workers for that company dont get a 100% are they penalized and dont forget a fals report could cost the next person money or issues and that could in-part be attributed to you0

Yes of course you should report this person. They have done a bad job, they need more training and it's cost you more money because they were inept. I'd ask for a refund if I were you.0
-
Of course you should complain.
Had the first engineer been competent and done his job properly, the need for a second engineer would not have arisen. By doing nothing, you are shunting him onto other unsuspecting customers and allowing him to get paid for poor workmanship and an inability to do what he is paid to do. Without complaining, his employer might never get to know the scale of his inefficiency.
Don't feel guilty when lodging your request for a refund. Unless businesses get to know the true quality of their employees via customer feedback, they are denied the opportunity to put things right and improve their public image.:)0
