Why do Linux users feel the need to point out that they use Linux whenever someone starts a W10 thread ?!

    Makes me chuckle (and yawn)

Disclaimer : I also use Linux for some stuff

There are a few changes in 1703.
    You've got a new 'Paint 3D' app ....
Man, Woman, Dog, Cat, Mouse, Fish ... all extremely useful - NOT !!
And as for REMIX - ??
Why would anyone want to do this - and limited to linking with Xbox ??

Also Classic Shell doesn't like 1703 - it keeps on having problem starting up - leaving me with MS abysmal menu system - complete with many apps that I will never use and yet are uninstallable !!
And - a major issue (that everyone should check) - System Restore was turned OFF by default on updating (I am sure that, previously - it was ON)

No issue here with Restore and 1703; Twunc - time to change your OS?

Possibly little consolation for you Twuncle, I have 1703 installed and Classic Shell works perfectly normally for me without any tweaking on my part. System restore was not turned off either.

All the kewl kids are using Linux Mint

They may be but those actually wanting to get on with some work that requires everyday commercial software will be using Windows or a Mac.

And please spare us "I use Open Office and GIMP". Fine if your requirements are basic or you exist totally in your own little world and don't need to interact with the mainstream but not otherwise.

    Nice elegant interface though.......

I have found a LARGE unknown file on my C:\Windows\LiveKernal folder called POW32kwatchdog
I have googled this name and found one German site that mentions it https://www.win-10-forum.de/windows-10-allgemeines/39936-c-windows-livekernelreports-pow32kwatchdog-20170417-0936-dmp.html
What is it and what does it do ?
    I don't speak German
It is 844Mb in size - I reckon (hope) that it is linked to the update because it was not there previously

I do use Open Office - it suits me better than MS Office 2016 - which I also have
The reason for using Open Office is its relative simplicity and menu
Why would OO prevent me from interacting with the "mainstream" ?
It is completely compatible with the latest MS offerings - only Free !!
Have you actually tried OO or are you just working on heresay ?

Yes I have tried and spent / wasted many hours sorting out incompatibility problems!

For example, a well know university produced lots of templates for students to use, both Word and Powerpoint. Every single one of them had issues when used in Open Office. As I say, fine in isolation and maybe OK for lots of simple jobs but to claim "complete compatibility" is nonsense.

You may argue it was the fault of the templates. However they all worked fine in various versions of MS Office on both Windows and Mac so how many different "compatible" programs should the be tested on?

There was a similar but smaller issue with a few of them if they were imported into Mac's free Office suite (Pages, Keynote etc). Again, reasonable compatibility most of the time, great on their own but how much hassle do you want to save a fiver a month?
