I refuse to believe this is a case of penny pinching until someone proves to me that £2.6m is not enough money to clad a building of that size efficiently and safely.
You know how it works. The management company will put out invitation to tenders, and any responsible company bidding will factor in the use of the right materials and safety overheads in to their bids.
I've dealt with chancers. I'm sure others have on here too.
I worked for one company who, in a training course, called government clients 'soft touches'. There is this idea that they won't haggle too hard, or read the contract in too much detail.
Sadly, you know what? They are sometimes right.0 -
Is he trying to topple the government? Yes, he is the leader of the opposition and should be scrutinising them and using opportunities to destabilise them.
However there is all the difference in the world between him highlighting actual failings (of which none have yet been identified since nobody yet knows any facts) and using his momentum chums to fabricate accusations against the Tories then organize marches/demos/riots off the back of that.
The former would be the actions of a repsonsible leader of the opposition.
The latter is the actions of an extremist using every dirty trick in the book to try to destabilize a democratically elected Government.0 -
You couldn't make this up.
Meet Labour K&C MP Emma Dent Coad.'Unforgivable': local Labour MP vents fury over Grenfell Tower fire
Emma Dent Coad berates Kensington and Chelsea council for failings she says led to an ‘entirely preventable’ tragedy
Oh Wait.Labour's new Kensington MP was on housing scrutiny committeeShe was on the board of Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation when the tower’s refurbishment was discussed.

Doesn't say much for some of the people that now stand for public office. No moral fibre or decency other to try and cover their own backsides.0 -

Did anybody blame Gordon Brown and the 12 years of Blair's government?
The tragedy did but the Inquiry and recommendations didn't. The point is the recommendations haven't been followed.0 -

I go away for a few days and you are *still* banging on about Jeremy Corbyn and momentum, and nothing else.
Do you have no shame? If you want to talk about the fire that's fine, but its time to stop using the deaths of 58 people to push your personal political views.0 -
That's right fella, you concentrate on the irrelevant and let the grown ups discuss the big stuff.
Are these grown up 'big stuff' enough questions for you:
1. So from your previous posts above, you obviously are expecting Corbyn to increase public sector wages, how is he planning to do this, yet contain inflation?
2. How come no significant Labour MP's are part of Corbyn's cabinet, there are many very experienced and talented (much more so than Corbyn) MP's sitting on the back benches, why?
3. What is the rationale of free tuition fees for students, do you really think that this would represent value for the tax payer (don't forget that I am a university lecturer when you answer this one)Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Unlike Corbyn & Momentum I haven't pointed the finger of blame at anybody at all. In fact I've repeatedly said nobody should do so. So maybe check your facts before accusing me of pushing political views.
When it comes to me highlighting the FACT that Corbyn & his followers are using this to push their agenda, I have no intention of stopping doing that. Indeed posts like yours simply make me al the more determined to do so.
If you don't like it that's an awful shame. You know where the ignore button is.0 -
