There is the 3.0 version on there, but debits got it sorted
However, im not sure 3.0 is the way forward due to it also scanning.

Morning EnRIK, thanks for that, going to remove it when I can get on pc.
Sorry to say, still problems this morning!
It logged on within 30 seconds:), BUT ,:(when I launched Chrome, it just did nowt!
Little blue circle turning for twenty minutes.
Shut it down, tried normal in boot, signed in, another twenty minutes or so,but nowt again. limbo land.
Since then 1.75hrs later, waiting to try and get in via safe mode, again, which will mean I will have to redo what we did yesterday:(
    I did say, I wasn't,t jumpimg for joy:rotfl:
See how long before it allows me in via safe mode?
Still looking at black and white screen of drivers installed, telling me to wait, no option
These things are sent to try us.
I know mbam usually scans on boot, so, if/when I get on pc, that,s the first thing to do, remove:
As you say, it,s always scanning ?.
Is it the problem, considering, that was the reason for this post in the first place ?.

Just going to get a Ford spanner, to fix it

Still waiting to get on with safe mode.
    3.5 hours now.
I think it may be a new pc
Cannot do anything if I cannot log on.
This logging on trouble only started after I ran a rootscan aswmbr, 3 days ago ,and that,s when booting up became a problem.
    I clicked fixmbr!
A dialogue box came on, saying ,am I sure,, as it may result in obtaining files, so I cancelled it I have the log for that scan if you want me to post it?
    If I get online!!
    Had boot problems since
    Mbam, hasn't,caused this surely?

    Startup Options

These settings define how Malwarebytes 3.0 will behave when your computer starts. You may launch several applications at startup, and they may initiate startup processes which require Malwarebytes 3.0 launch timing to be adjusted. Let's look at each setting in detail.

Start Malwarebytes at Windows startup: If this setting is off, Malwarebytes will not start with Windows. No real-time protection layers will start when Windows starts, though they may still be started manually by launching Malwarebytes 3.0.
Delay Real-Time Protection when Malwarebytes starts: There may be times when the startup of system services used by Malwarebytes conflicts with services required by other applications at boot time. When this is the case, turn this setting on. You may also adjust the delay timing. You will need to experiment with the specific delay setting necessary to compensate for any conflicts that are noted. When required, this must be done on a case-by-case basis. The delay setting is adjustable from 15-180 seconds, in increments of 15 seconds.
Enable self-protection module: This setting controls whether Malwarebytes creates a safe zone to prevent malicious manipulation of the program and its components. Checking this box introduces a one-time delay as the self-protection module is enabled. While not a negative, the delay may be considered undesirable by some users. When unchecked, the "early start" option which follows is disabled.
Enable self-protection module early start: When self-protection is enabled, you may choose to enable or disable this option. When enabled, the self-protection module will become enabled earlier in the computer's boot process, essentially changing the order of services and drivers associated with your computer's startup.

Have you got last setting enabled ? If so, change to off position and see if that improves anything.
You could even switch off/delay all start up options rather than uninstalling.

Hi Hans, still cannot get pc booted up at all.
Been try since 6 am, to get in safe mode, nothing happening !
It was still trying when I posted last post, just had a look, and widows logo, saying ,starting, then blue screen shutdown.
Don,t know if it got in safe mode, was away from machine for a while?
Not a clue what it,s playing at.
    Yesterday and day before, it
Took 2 hours to get in safe mode, to boot, then , then go back to restore point. Which it did
That,s what I,m trying again now, or have since 6 am! but cannot get safe mode up,just got black/white screen with drivers loaded, saying,
    Please wait.

5 hours been waiting, story of my life:rotfl:

Is the Please Wait the usual Microsoft one or an update one?

It is sounding as if you either have a hardware problem or the HD has become corrupt

First off, power down the PC

Open up the base unit, remove sata cables from hard disk (or IDE if they are old

boot again and just see if you can get into firmware (F2 or DEL key as it boots.

Look at boot options, what devices in what order, post them here.

Could it by chance be set to go to USB or DVD first and be getting stuck there

Do you have any spare hard disks or another computer?

Need to make some boot CD/DVD's or USB keys can tell you which ones and how if you can say what you have.

If it has not booted to at least show you the OS has started then no point waiting 5 hours.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !

    hi David.
    It,s a laptop.
    Wouldn't,t know where to start.
I still maintain, that when I ran asw/mbr ,from the list you gave me, to find rootkit, it has altered mbr.
Done F2.here,s boot priority order, which cannot be correct.?
    1: ide.hdd:Hitachi hts542525k9saoo-s
    2: ide:cd::Hp-do-st. DVD ram gsa-t40n-)
    3:PCI:bev mba v9.4.5 slot0800
    4:USB:hdd
    5:USB:CD-ROM:
    6:USB FDC
    7:USB key
    8
    Excluded from boot order

.my laptop is an acer aspire5920
My son,s pc, is an Hitachi which I have done work on, several years ago.
Changed both his and my pc,from vista to w7 at the same times ,using my pc
I don,t know if his pc is still ok, but, if it is, can probably borrow it, but not for a couple of days
    Got discs.

Sorry when you said PC I made mistake to assume was a box, for laptop turn it off, remove power and battery and try to boot with hard disk removed, usually held in place by a few screws and slides out. .

I just want to see if it will boot with the hard disk gone, I appreciate that there is nothing to boot if the disk is gone, but how it behaves will tell us if there is any hardware problem.

I think you are right about the MBR being rewritten, some apps botch this up

Your situation was complicated by having multiple AV programs installs, so one might have prevented the MBR being written to properly.

Change first boot item to the following so you can boot CD recovery disk

    2: ide:cd::Hp-do-st. DVD ram gsa-t40n-)

So go to your son's machine

Build a recovery USB or CD, I may be able to PM you a link

Hi David, cannot understand why number one is Hatching, that,s my Son,s pc, not mine?
As I said, my laptop is an Acer, his is Hitachi?

Even though mbr may have been changed, why is number one my Sons pc?
