Where do you people buy cars? Go in, order car, go back later & pick it up. I've never experienced the hard sell of extras.

Maybe they made enough profit off you not to have to? ;)

Gap insurance is a good idea, though not necessarily from the dealer. Check your insurance policy - many include gap insurance for a new car for one year. My insurance (Saga) includes it for two years.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

£100 doesn't seem too bad for a couple of those.. gap though is recommended for credit purchases

For GAP insurance ALA tend to be quite cheap once you make use of various online discount (such as the pistonheads 12%)

Not sure why method of funding would have an effect on insurance required.

Because if you don't own the car you might be paying for something that no longer exists and still need a car? If you own it then you take the settlement.
Personally I wouldn't bother with GAP insurance, new cars depreciate so if you come to sell after 4 years it's worth less than you paid. Why do you need GAP insurance if it's written off after 3 years and 360 days?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I have had GAP insurance twice.. never used it but for £300 it seemed worth not having a finance gap

however Tyre and alloy cover was worth it

cost me £300.. my tyres are £110 per corner

in first week had to have a new tyre (puncture) that was number 1

had 3 tyres out of the scheme in all due to the state of the roads..

curbed a couple of alloys which normally I wouldnt care about a minor scratch but as I got 10 refurbs as part of this.. used as many as I could

even got all 4 wheels done just before the policy ended

    worth every penny

The car I have put a deposit down has 18" diamond cut alloys. Although my current standard 17" alloys are in top condition over 3 years old, the sales rep made a good pitch to me. Although it does seem expensive even at £249, with £100 off.

Diamond cut alloys are notorious for the top layer of lacquer chipping or getting scratched and water getting underneath.

Avoid using a power hose on them and i'd get an alloy wheel wax and keep them well waxed.

in that case it is worth paying the protection £249 for 3 yrs? (also covers punctures and damage from pot holes - although not seen full T&Cs). I found a similar cover online at same around the same price.
