It is perfectly driveable, I drive 1000 miles per month in it.
    I'm sure you do.

But you really shouldn't be. It should not be on the road with that amount of structural rot.

The MOT is a bare minimum, not some borderline-unattainable once-a-year highpoint.

Go on facebook, join the MX5Nutz page and sell it there. They're used to that kind of rust as it is pretty much like that on probably the majority of MK1 and MK2 MX5s which haven't already been repaired there and it doesn't put them off. £500-£600 would be the right ballpark.

Sorry dude its a rusty 2.5 not really desirable, would cost £1500 to repair properly, that engine shot makes the whole car look neglected.

Even if it was a MK1 you'd be lucky at £500, start it £99 and take what you get, .

I have to echo this; if it's fail an MOT now due to structural rust, then it's not roadworthy, and you'd need to sell it as a car that won't pass an MOT.

You'd probably be better either getting it repaired and selling it as having had the work done, or selling it as spares with a low starting bid auction and taking what you can.

Why can't it be on the road? It is not going to fall apart while driving.

Almost all mk2.5s are rusty at this point, unless you take preventative action early in the cars life then it will face rust issues.

What is wrong with the engine picture? It just looks like an engine bay to me. Everything works. Someone else told me the engine picture looks like the car has not been cared for.

It looks neglected and dirty, as if you haven't cleaned it in years, it's got corrosion and dirt everywhere. To me, it says you don't care about maintenance.

Take a wire brush or something to the top of the engine and get rid of all the flaking, give it a wash and try and brush/treat the rust.

Even just spray the pipes etc with a bit of a WD40 or similar to cheat and make it look cared for.

It's an offence to use a vehicle on the road in an unroadworthy state, is it not?

If the rust is so severe it would catastrophically fail the MOT, or severe enough to weaken the car such that things like seatbelt mountings, seat mountings, etc would breach the C+U regulations, then the car is unroadworthy; ergo shouldn't be being used.

Quite apart from that, do you not give a !!!! about your own safety?

Garage has confirmed it will need the rust on the sills to be dealt with in order to pass an MOT - if tested today it would fail.

However a fresh fail list would let the buyers know the total issues.

If you sell a vehicle it needs to be roadworthy. If it would not pass an mot today it is arguably unroadworthy and you could be commiting an offence by selling it. It doesn't just need to be mot worthy on one day of the year, it should be able to pass every day and maintained as such. Just one example:

    Sorry,that is utter nonsense.
If its listed honestly then it is not an offence.
Many people (myself in my younger days) buy non roadworthy project cars.
Why you have linked to a TRADE article,I have no idea.
