Bovis Crashed into car!

I'm after some advise if possible please. I've recently purchased a bovis house for £280,000 (of which we're still sorting problems with it 6 months later) so I'm a very new bovis customer. Tuesday one of the builders decided to smash into my new vw golf (that we purchased 6 weeks prior for £13000) with a fork lift truck! It was only 6 months old so still like new. According to my car insurance company they've done about £4000 worth of damage but there's no way I'm happy to accept a repair of the car. I've had nothing but problems and now to top it off they've almost written off my car! Where do I stand on this?

You don't get a choice. The insurance company will repair it for you. They're not going to replace it with a new one of its only £4000 of damage.0
-
Why won't you accept a repair? That will put you back into the position you were in prior to the accident which is all you are entitled to.
The other alternative is to take the cash and not have the repair.
What solution would you like?0 -
I'm sure they didn't "decide" to crash into your car unless you are causing them huge amounts of grief. Maybe it was an accident.
But I don't think it matters how or why the accident happens the insurance process is the same and your car gets repaired unless it's written off.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Will it not devalue the car as when selling people will see an insurance claim for repairs on the car? Not to mention the fact I've saved to buy the thing and it will now never feel the same to me again knowing it's had structural repairs! Just feel like they can't just get away with returning it to me repaired. My insurance premiums will now also go up as my 9 years no claims will also now disappear due to non fault claim!0

I never meant to imply it wasn't an accident0

As long as it is repaired to a decent standard future value will not be affected. How would anybody know it had been repaired?0

You won't lose your NCB if you aren't at fault and the other party have admitted liability. There is no way anyone would know that the car had an accident unless it's repaired badly. It's one of the daft things about Cat C/D cars, the same damage on a newer car wouldn't be recorded or ever known about, if something minor happens on an older car it can be a write off for a dented door panel which is then given Cat D.
If you're not happy with the car after repairs you could just sell it on?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
It will only have an insurance marker if it was a write off and the insurers chose not to repair it, so it will not devalue the car. The fact that it was a Bovis fork lift truck is irrelevant, it would be the same process if it got damaged regardless of who or what ran in to you. Also, your no claims bonus should not be affected.
If is unreasonable to expect a brand new car when your car can clearly be repaired.0 -
I didn't expect a brand new car either though. Just thought there would be some kind of compensation somewhere. Seems like nobody else sees it. Thanks anyway0

The fact that it was Bovis - not material.
The fact that that it was a Bovis contractor - not material.
The fact that you had problems with your house - not material. So don't go moaning about those points as they aren't relevant.
Someone crashed into your parked car. I presume they will admit liability. Your car will be fixed at no cost to yourself. It will not be recorded as a Cat write off. Repairs even to a good standard might be noticed at a later date. It's one of those things. If you feel so strongly, stick a claim in for diminution of value. Google the term if you don't understand what it means.0
