Both the driver and myself are regular customers at XX Retail Park and we hope that this can be rectified in a satisfactory manner in order to retain our future custom, which you will certainly have lost if this fake 'fine' from a notorious firm is not cancelled.

Thanks! I was worried about being too 'hard/firm' but good to be given a nudge in that direction :)

You really can't be too firm. As long as you are polite they won't take offence.

    Hi pogofish,
I was reseaching the Newbies thread for background info but the first post in Newbies, which seems to be the main one, is dated November 2013. As a first time user I didn't realise that there was also a date at the bottom of the post (that showed when it was last edited) but know to look there now!
    Sorry for the confusion :)

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the PCN. I visited the retailer where I had proof of purchase but they said they had no involvement with the car park and whether you had proof of purchase or not they wouldn't get involved. I also tried their customer service department over the phone and they had a similar response.

As per your suggestions, I contacted the retail park centre management (using their online contact form) and sent them the letter I drafted above. I received an email today from their facilities manager who has confirmed that the PCN has been cancelled. Success!

Thank you so much for all your help, I wouldn't have know where to start before reading all of the forums on here. It feels like a victory and has saved me stressing about letters coming through the door. Thanks again!

I'd contact the customer services department and ask them why they wouldn't contact the above on behalf of a genuine customer. Surely they should know the route to have these cancelled for their customers.

Will they confirm that they will do this in future? If not, they are currently corresponding with a, soon-to-be, former customer.

If they say they will do in future, give them a few weeks, then phone to say you have a ticket and ask how it can be cancelled. That will prove (or otherwise) how concerned they are about their real customers. If they then foul up - go for the jugular.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
