I have not contacted popla myself with details as I read a thread saying it doesn't always work out if you don't get everything in correct order and all details first time
I'm not sure whom to contact next nor where to go from here.0 -

It's time to get tough with Mr Jason Hargreaves, Managing Director
A letter headed "For the personal Attention of Jason Hargreaves"
Marked "Private and Confidential"
THE FACTS
1:You were issued a ticket because you were spending more money
with Matalan ?
Is it the normal practice for Matalan to hold customers in such contempt
2: Your customer service claims that you no longer deal with Smart Parking ? What date did you cease dealing with Smart Parking as I need proof that the ticket issued was indeed valid.
You will already know that Smart Parking were terminated from Asda and since then, their contracts have been terminated by other companies. You of course will understand that Matalan is responsible for the actions of their agents and if this matter is not correctly addressed by yourself, my options are open to include you in any actions from Smart Parking which will include County Court.
3: Currently, I am being harassed by a debt collection company and Smart Parking are threatening court action
4: There is a case for discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 (EA) as my husband is limited to using crutches. As you will also be aware of, the party which contracted Smart Parking is jointly and severally liable for disability discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 (EA).
5: I have been refused my right to appeal this charge via POPLA as Smart Parking will not issue a code to do so, they state it is now outside the 28 period of ticket issue but .... no ticket was received hence I could not appeal in the first instant to Smart Parking
6: This is of grave concern that a company like Matalan knowingly employ rogue traders in an attempt to extort money from your
customers.
If this ticket is not cancelled by you, then these facts will be given to the court and I will include you in any action taken0 -
I'll need to print and send that as I've already emailed him twice and had no response at all0

Thank you.
This is rapidly becoming an issue as along with a physical disability my OH also suffers severe anxiety and the threats are making him want to just pay up so they leave him alone
I however fee that that's exactly why they do this, because ppl get so stressed they just give in.
They're Pee'ing me off!0 -

At the end of the day, stop stressing about Smart, they are easy to beat that's if they do take you to court.
A judge would not be impressed by Smart
It is indeed the Matalan approach that is of concern to all of us
It does not stop at a Managing Director who thinks he is so high that he will not reply. That is ignorance at it's best
Allan Leighton, the former Asda chief executive, is returning to the value fashion sector less than a year after the collapse of Peacocks, becoming chairman of Matalan.
Darren Blackhurst, the former Asda executive, was last year named as chief executive of Matalan.
A letter to both Allan Leighton and Darren Blackhurst would be in order asking
if their MD actually exists as he has constantly ignored you

So, don't tell me that Matalan don't know about the cheap antics
practiced by Smart Parking0 -
Have you written bad stuff on Matalan's Facebook page and twitter? Also, have you complained in writing to your local Trading Standards Officer? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
-
No to public posting because honestly last time I tried that on FB (when argos failed to deliver after 3 weeks and failed to refund me almost £300) their response was simply to block me from posting on their page. I did eventually get my money but found that they can block too easily so it didn't really help.
And honestly I've no idea if trading standards is real or if they're like deities you pray to for help but never get responses from. A bit like Matalan CEO. I've tried in the past (re argos) and failed to get hold of an actual person
I read that back and I'm already sounding defeated.0 -
Good Morning,
As a national retailer, we take our responsibilities under the Disabled Discrimination Act very seriously and fully support any legislation designed to end the discrimination that many disabled people face in accessing goods and services. Even without such legislation Matalan would aim to provide a level of service which would be equal and beneficial to all customers irrespective of age, race, creed, or ability.
Since 1st October 1999 service providers such as Matalan have been obliged to:
alter practices, policies or procedures that make it unreasonably difficult for less-able people to use their services.Provide alternative methods of making their services available where physical features of the premises makes it unreasonably difficult for less-able people to access services.provide auxiliary aids and services to assist less-able people to access our goods or services. It is our belief, which is also supported by the Disabled Rights Commission, that Matalan are doing everything that is considered reasonable to ensure that our services are accessible to disabled customers.!
I assure you that the store had clear signs throughout the car park detailing the requirements for disabled parking regulations however if smart parking are no longer responsible for the car park these signs will have been removed or replaced if another operator is in place.
I can only apologise that we are unable to assist you and that we failed to meet your expectations on this occasion.

The issue is not the disabled parking regulations. IM struggling to get them to see its their attitude and that of Smart Parking working on their behalf in their failure to acknowledge the mobility issue hindered progress inside their busy store. They've fixated on the bays/parking before entering rather than what's transpired after entering prior to leaving...0
