See what the police advise her. She's off there now.

They're not qualified to give any advice. They'll record the accident to comply with the road traffic act. Whether it's reported to the insurance or not are down to the terms of any insurance policy she has or is named on. They may include yours.
  • She's a named driver on mine.

Both with directline. She's also entitled to drive mine 3rd party off hers.

So they'll be two phone calls to directline giving them the excuse to increase both premiums for the next five years.
  • Police have recorded as non hit and run. Couldn't give a reg for the other car. Nothing reported to them either.

    Just chat to insurance tomorrow.

That's the problem with modern Britian. No phone, no pen and the worlds !!!!ed. Go back 30 years, no pen and before mobiles, you would leave a club with a girls phone number written in eyeliner or lipstick and they'll say we've progr seed sinc then.

That's very convenient that she couldn't remember the registration registration thus the police will have no easy way of contacting the third party to let them know their car may be damaged.

So they potentially have damage to their chassis / boot under their car or behind the bumper (quite likely at a 3/4mph bump) and if they don't notice for some time would have no idea where / when it happened and thus have no recourse.

Reversing into someone's car is a good reason to increase your premiums as it shows you aren't very good at driving

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Yes a 2 mph bump, the first in 10 years if driving certainly makes you a lunatic driver!
