Thanks mumoffour. We tried phoning about the boiler the other day, 1 was on holiday, another was fully booked for 2 weeks, another was going to ring back later and never did! I've got a number from a lady at work to try, hopefully someone will come out.
DH keeps saying he can fix it himself (it's only a water valve that needs replacing (£10 from ebay/amazon for the washer or £65 if it needs the whole valve) but with it being the boiler there is no chance i'm letting him do it. I am desperate for a nice long hot shower.
Car wasn't done the other day,he's just taken it this morning with DS and they are going to walk back.
Yesterday DH had the dentist so £20 there and a few bits fetched for tea.
Bank checked this morning and nothing has changed. I've got the 2nd load in the washer, i will get through some of this mountain today!LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Thank you WF.
Just remembered i may need to buy a hairdryer too. I've had it for 20 years but DD1 came down yesterday saying it was smoking and had stopped working. Turns out she had been using it to 'iron out creases in her top'. DH let it cool and tried it and it worked so thinks she may have had it pressed to the tshirt and overheated it. I'll try it later and see what it does.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

So that's what they do instead of ironing!
Hope the dryer is okay and that the car gets sorted - and you get your shower back! Maybe you should treat yourself to a swim just so you can shower? It must get to you as it drags on a bit, though I suppose at least it's reducing the hot water bill.
Such a lot of significant things all at once.Makes me appreciate ours which are working at the moment. I had a puzzled text from the plumber the other day wanting to know what's wrong. Turns out the photos I texted him a week ago when the boiler went off had just arrived! He has a sense of humour though and thought it was funny when I apologised and explained.

Just a quick post as need to get ready for work. Really haven't got the energy. Was just climbing in to bed last night when i heard the dreaded words 'Mum.. Mum.. I've been sick!'. I was up a lot in the night as didn't feel great but luckily no more from anyone yet.
Car cost £120, they had to get a part from the dealer.
After trying a few more numbers we have someone coming out to the boiler on Monday. Just hoping they turn up. Can't believe how hard it has been to get someone out.
Need to get some shopping after work as DH only picked up a few bits last night as i had to go to parents evenings. The DC break up today for 2 weeks so will need lots of snacks for the constant hunger they seem to get in the holidays.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Evening. Just a quick post as I can't find a laptop.
Throat still very sore and coughs about but no more sign of sick bug. I think DS may have just eaten way to much dinner, I hadn't expected him to eat half of if and he had cleared it along with a whole garlic bread.
Things have got to get a lot tighter here! After last week's break down work have managed to change my late finish shifts but it has come at a cost as I've had to give up 5 hours a week, it doesn't sound a lot but it's £155 a month.
I should be able to top it up with overtime but for the first few weeks I'm going to enjoy the fewer hours and earlier nights and let my tablets kick in properly.
Meal planning better and sticking to budgets is first on the list. Now I'll be home more evenings I'm hoping dinners won't be as erratic (3 nights this week we have nipped in to fetch something quick and ended up spending about £30 each time).
Right better get some sleep before the DC are up, why do they never get up that early on school days?LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Weather is lovely out there. DD1 has taken the mini's down to the wetlands so I have an hours peace. The plan was to finish cleaning but so far i've made a cup of tea, ate a yogurt and been to find the laptop.
I didn't get up until 10.30 this morning and feel like i've lost half the day. I started tackling the hall before the shopping arrived. I've emptied the shoe rack and cleared it of fluff, hair and dust and i've started putting a few shoes back. I need the children to sort through the others to see which fit or are any good, there is a huge pile and i'm sure most of them don't fit anymore. Going to do the coat racks after.
I would like to replace the shoe rack with one of those units with the fabric drawers in. Our house is just so dusty and with the cats and dogs, a lot of the shoes look awful.
I've put most of the shopping away then the children decided they were going out so i left the rest to help get them ready and now it's still there while i finish this tea.
Going to sit and go through the budget with DH later, 1 thing at a time to see if we can cut anymore. I'm not sure there is much more to cut though but i know TC will go up a bit in April as the over payment will have gone so that will offset a bit of my lost wages.
So need to finish drinking tea, finish hall, feed kiddo's and then tackle the kitchen/utility before the boiler man comes tomorrow (it'll be thrown in to pantry/conservatory as haven't time to sort it but need the boiler doing ASAP).LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Well this afternoon was a complete fail. Spent way to long looking through my accounts. I think i might be able to save £50 on things i've been thinking about cancelling anyway and then if i can ring about mortgage that might save a bit too.
Children came home rather muddy! Need to wash their trainers and coats. I had asked them to wear wellies but they said they wouldn't need them!
While sorting through shoes I realised DS1's are dropping to bits so need replacing before he goes back. There is a bag of shoes for the bin and a couple of pairs of wellies (worn twice) and named trainers that might get a couple of £.
Still a pile of shoes to sort through.
Never even made it to the kitchen. Just waiting for the washer and i'm going to head to bed and get up early tomorrow to sort it.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Wow, you do have a lot going on! Sorry there are all these extra expenses. I do think you will benefit from the changes at work, though, and it may be that with you around to sort out the meals there will be some savings to be had: things you can make from scratch, batch cooking, that sort of thing.
Hope the boiler man turns up and this time tomorrow I'm reading what a lovely hot shower you had.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
