Panasonic Replacement TV

  • Sorry to butt in on this topic but I have been offered an upgrade to a better more expensive TV by LG. The price difference is £200 but the price difference compared to what I initially paid for my current set is £700 when there were sales going on. The thing is I purchased the current set from John Lewis and have a 5 year warranty. If I accept the replacement directly with LG I don't know how that affects the warranty with JL. LG only offer a 1 year warranty. I am somewhat confused as to how this stands.

Call John Lewis and ask them. Ask whether they will cover the new tv under the warranty or what they would offer as a replacement tv if you utilised their warranty rather than dealing with the manufacturer. I'm assuming your current set is faulty and can't be economically repaired.

My opinion would be that you should be in no worse a position than you are now. So now you have (had) a 42" TV worth for example £200.

Let's say the TV they are offering is RSP £375, and you can sell immediately for £250.

You are in a no worse position than before so their offer would be valid. Of course all this depends on the numbers.

Richer are one of the good guys so I would be surprised if they aren't acting reasonably.
