Many thanks for the responses, and to whoever said kicking a fuss its not about it,its not about twisting the facts.
That was the whole point to get ideas and opinions of everyone ,Many thanks for everyone much appreciated.
The tv was bought from richer sounds in august 2014 do i approach retailer or speak to Panasonic0 -
You are certainly not going to get a better deal from the retailer, who if they were willing to refund would take into account the 3 years use you have had, so the most you would get is 50% of what you have paid.
As the no longer make 42 inch screens 40 inch is the most similar in size. Would the supply larger TV if you paid the difference?0 -

Richer Sounds are an excellent store (compared to many we discuss on here) and you have nothing to lose by asking them what they would provide under their own guarantee.0

Their own guarantee needs to be purchased.
Given the OP hasnt approached Richer sounds I doubt they bought it.
Best would likely be a part refund,I bet taking and selling Panasonics replacement would yield more money.0 -

their gtee is included in sales now, not sure if it was in 2014.
I also hear good things about richer sounds but havent used them.
OP did you get a 5year gtee from Richer when you purchased0 -

Although this is true for some items (I paid £10 for the 6 year warranty for my DD player last month) it is not the case for TVs now, which have the warranty included in the purchase price, and I suspect that it was also the case in 2014. It would make sense for the OP to at least ask them rather than accept an offer that may be inferior.0 -

Their free five year guarantee on all televisions was introduced in February or March 2014.
Before then a Richer Sounds five year guarantee could be had for 10% of the purchase price.
