Post code issue

Hi, we bought a new build 18 months ago however we keep having issues with our post code in that when you type it into sat navs it takes you to a field about 1 mile down the road. Our estate is hard to find. Its down a street that actually still states its a cul de sac although its not anymore.
This is starting to cause loads of issues. Any idea how i get the post code/sat nav issue sorted?
Thank you

Well, let me think that one through for a minute,,,, : Have you thought, bit radical I realise, of letting anyone wanting to find you, of directions of where you are??
Appreciate this might be a little weird (eg turn left at, 200mtrs ahead, turn right,,, on for 300mtrs & we are the large smug modern thingy on the left..) but you could always try that??
Just a thought, feel free to ignore..
Cheers!0 -
Sounds like a Satnav map issue. Update to the latest maps or use coordinates instead of postcode ( most TomTom will take coordinates, and I guess other brands too)0

Thank you Typhoon. Its more of an issue if we buy something and then it never gets delivered because nobody can find us0

It is the Royal Mail who are responsible for the Post Codes and it can take some time. I have had the same problem where I live with delivery drivers giving up the search and driving off.
I would ensure that everything I purchase has additional remarks written on the delivery paperwork and to call your mobile no when the driver is in the vicinity and to then follow your directions.
The cul-de-sac sign should be changed too by the councils Highways division.
Has the Electoral Roll office been informed? I would also make the council aware too otherwise you may miss out on Owner-Occupier notifications as in my case last month. They do not always liaise.0 -

My home and road has been here for at least 100 years. Sat nav sends people to a nearby, 15 year old cul-de-sac.
If your address is new it might not be on sat navs so drivers are directed to the geographical centre of the post code.
Ask for the cul-de-sac sign to be changed to a leading to sign.0 -

I tried that recently, think I got about 12 characters in which to write my 'additional information for delivery'.
Don't let that stop the sarcasm though, you're clearly enjoying yourself.0 -
Work has this issue. Putting our post code in a satnav takes you to the local sorting office. We tell people using satnav to use the postcode of the other side of the road and we are opposite.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Sat nav systems will not all get updated: Even Legoland, not far from where we live, has this on their website..
https://www.legoland.co.uk/planning-your-visit/getting-here/Sat Nav Top Tip!
If you are using a Sat Nav system to get to the Resort, please follow the local brown tourist information signs directing you to LEGOLAND as some Sat Nav systems may incorrectly direct you into a residential street.
So, I repeat, inform vendor of your directions: If necessary by email, 'phone, letter: My suggestions earlier of doing so were serious, albeit tinged with mild irony that you'd not worked this out already..
Relying on systems and processes to work perfectly is likely to lead to disappointment, or worse. Believing the US military (whose satellites are used), sat-nav manufacturers and the Royal Mail to ensure your life is trouble-free ain't likely to work..
Some sat-nav systems are v expensive to update: That in my car would cost over £100 every year or so so, no, I don't spend that, & use 'phone every so often.
The world ain't perfect!0 -
Do people still use satnavs? I thought most just used phones (which auto update)0
