Do not on any account buy an iphone from argos, until you have read this message

ARGOS own parent company Sainsbury's mobile policy is and I quote "You can return your mobile within 14 days as sold for any reason for a no quibble refund or exchange"
Apple Store has a similar no quibble policy.
I asked ARGOS to redress this issue by allowing me to exchange my iPhone a week after I bought it for an iPhone7+ ( I was prepared to pay the difference).
This iphone7 was bought as an early birthday present by my wife, who was under the impression that I could exchange this gift under a similar no quibble policy, yes their returns policy is on their website, and like many, we did not read the small print, however had I bought this from their parent company or Apple I would not be in this predicament. Anyway ARGOS told me to 'go and do one', and directed me to their returns policy. Please LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE, do NOT buy mobiles from ARGOS with their inferior returns policy, spread the word, you have been warned!!!

had you opened and used the phone at all?0

What was their reason for the refusal to accept the return?
Provided that the phone was unused and in its original packaging, it shouldn't have been exempted from a return.0 -

Because of this you would have had no right of return with either Sainsbury's or Apple.0 -

I would love to think that was true!0 -
No doubt another one post wonder. Op there is no small print precluding the return of the phone.Returns, refunds & exchanges
Can I return it if there’s nothing wrong with it?
Absolutely! We offer a 30 day returns guarantee on most items. (We’re nice like that.)
So if you need to bring it back, just bring it back. Then we’ll either refund the cash onto the original payment method or offer you an exchange. Easy.
You just need these 2 things:
1.your proof of purchase
2.the item should be unused, in its original packaging and in a re-sellable condition
3.er... there is no 3
PS There are a few things we can’t do returns for, such as food and some jewellery (see FAQ below) unless of course they’re faulty. Naturally, none of this affects your consumer rights.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN'T RETURN?
Unless they’re faulty, some items like food and certain jewellery can't be exchanged or refunded.
As has been said, if the item fits the criteria at point 2, then your wife can take it back within the 30 days with her proof of purchase. Simples.0 -

I have a pathological hatred of anything branded with a half eaten fruit . .0 -
Because of this you would have had no right of return with either Sainsbury's or Apple.
Its always very petty when people bring this up and doesn't help anyone. If you turn up with a product and a receipt at 99% of stores then you will be allowed to return the item by the store.
Most shops offer gift receipts which can be given with a present to allow the receiver to return the goods.0 -
Most shops DON'T offer gift receipts apart from around Christmas. You normally have to ask for them.
A lot of shops will only consider them at Christmaz0 -

I don't think it's an inferior policy. It's over and above your statutory rights and they don't have to exchange anything, unless faulty.
If I was spending £700 on anything, especially a present, I'd make sure it was exactly what I wanted, or that I could return it if needed. Did you open the box? If so, I doubt even Apple or anyone would take it back unless faulty? If not, then push Argos to accept it back0
