sky vs freeview

  • YOU CAN'T GET THE QUIDCO CASHBACK IF YOU'VE HAD SKY BEFORE!!!

Having said that, there might be ways of fooling them, but that's naughty (I got away with it because I've moved house since).

And it doesn't have to be £19 a month - if you just want a single mix I think it's £12-£14.

You also don't have to have a BT line:

    1) They can use any type of phoneline (inc NTL)

    2) It doesn't affect Sky signal (they purely use the phoneline to monitor what you're watching for marketing purposes). They do insist on you having this as part of their Ts&Cs, but if you tell them BT are coming out to install the line, but they haven't made it when the Sky guy arrives, he can carry on without and just ask you to plug it in when ready.

But none of this matters if you don't choose to go with Sky :-D

For some weird reason not on FreeSat. Or not last time I looked, it is if you pay SKY any money - Just with an inherited dish, ebayed box and no contract I can live without it... Film 4's there though.

How strange ~ I'm sure there is an incomprehensible reason, explained in fluent gobbledegook in sky's T&C's

Until sometime in 2008, SKY reserve the right to encrypt E4, which was fine when it was a pay to view channel and contract negotiated however SKY continue to encrypt it although free elsewhere, when contract up it will probably be carried unencrypted - the film 4 contract was different timing so that's already unencrypted. SKY just want to have another incentive for you to take subscription... freeview do carry E4 so a lot of peeps have a cheap freeview box for e4 if they like it....

THe quidco cashback would make the initial deal really attractive, but its for new customers only ( as is the new box/ dish/ installation deal) .. not sure how far back they take this point though / if way around it

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dont do it!! Having hung on to my cable for dear life for over a year of DFW (ish!)ness I can honestly (& in very surprised manner!) say I actually havent missed it & that extra £20 a month is fab! Bearing in mind the fact that you wont get the cashback it would seem I would say dont do it...but what do I know eh! This is from a woman who paid over £70 for body lotion.....

You won't get the cashback because you're a previous customer
