  • True enough enthusiastic :)
The gym thing will help a lot ,as I'll be going from someone who is doing nothing to someone who is exercising their body everyday .
It will make me cut down as well . True what you say regarding food etc
That prednisolone doesn't help. Steroids can make you eat more etc
I've gone on binges because of it .
Once I'm breathless after my first gym session , mind over matter should ensue :)
  • Weather was good over the weekend , so I spent most of it on the balcony in my present flat . I ventured over to the new flat , assessing my hallway and mulling over what's next . There will be a slight bit of touching up to do . It looks much better tho .

Yesterday , I saw a woman with a baby in pram gawking in .
Her other half didn't see me . When I left the flat , there was another mother with pram and baby . I was gonna smile and say hello but they ignored me . They were waiting for someone in one of the upstairs flats
Today , I had great intentions of painting another room. However , I had to pick my medication up from the chemist . Plus my left eye is blinky and tired ,as am I . Tomorrow it is .

Left a message with local gas engineer who I saw a few weeks ago.
I want to get a quote for the bathroom . The company do bathroom designs , and I liked the guys pleasant and easy going nature .
Was gonna do rated people ( may still do). However At the very end there were disclaimer/ at your own risk things that made me hold back for now .

Looking at the kitchen again : I obviously need new worktops and sink / taps. Looking at the cupboards , I may just get new handles .
The flooring will be changed . I'll get some vinyl fitted .
  • Keep focused with the gym, diet is key as already said, your not going to loose boat loads of weight if your throwing down loads of ciders.

  • True Scott .:) I don't drink all the time thankfully . Used to be once every 2 weeks before I moved . Then it was only bottles of sol or corona.
Looks like I will start the gym next week, if I have all the painting done . Initially , I was gonna be 6 months before I looked for employment again . However, since I've been readjusting , I think it will take a bit longer.

I stumbled across an episode of grand designs on Saturday .
It was about this Italian guy who suffers from m s . Sometimes he is in a really bad way aparrently .
He decided to relocate , and he built a cave type house( with a little help). He had enough of stress which he says was the main cause of his illness . He started again , and has to be admired .

coors light lol way forward lol. Just view it as baby steps re the gym i disagree what someone said earlier re the gym on its own and the whole 3 meals a day rubbish. The gym on its on will help its shown training even cardio 20 mins 3-4 times a week will improve cardio vascular function, lower blood pressure, increase metabolism speed, decrease diabetes risk, improve serotonin levels etc etc

Diet is important but dont cut things out, just make healthier choices ie a drink or two less a healthier drink, and dont stick too the 3 meals a day rubbish that means putting all your nutritional needs into 3 meals utter utter rubbish. So if your a guy who needs 2500 cals split that by 3 meals hmmmmmm or 2000cals for a lady hmmmmm

5 or 6 smaller meals is better for you and less likely to cause weird stuff like insulin spiking/gut upset/!!!!!tasis/blood pressure spikes

    True Scott .:)

It was for this very reason that many contributors on this thread tried to advise you to go with a much cheaper property......, exactly so you could, if necessary, take work out of the equation, just like the guy on Grand Designs.

It is also for this self same reason that I have tried to suggest that you hang fire on spending on renovation works, not indefinitely but just for now.

I can tell by your posts that you are getting steadily more stressed Over the decorating.......rushing, making mistakes, spilling paint on carpets, and without being rude, probably doing an inferior job which will only Serve to irritate you when you are forced to sit and look at it next winter.

You would be better employing your time Learning to cook delicious, healthy, nutritious meals - essential for your health and better for your bank balance.

You should know better that drinking alcohol whilst you are still taking prednisalone, chucking surgery drinks down your neck, fuelling up on caffeine and sugary starchy foods that are loaded with empty calories and which have zero nutritional value.

I tend to agree about eating small regular meals, rather than goi too limg between meals or worse, succumbing to unhealthy snacks.

I don't know if your consultant has explained stuff to you, but when you you take steroids such as prednisalone it actually switches off your adrenal system. (That's how it works, it's an immunosuppressant). When you start getting weaned off the pred it does take some time for the adrenals to switch on again.

Your adrenals are also the engine which fire the thyroid which can go haywire if the adrenals aren't functioning. In this case smaller ore regular meals can help regulate thyroid and adrenal function, thus speeding up metabolism which will in turn help with weight loss and also, as Scott points out, helping to regulate blood sugar levels.

did you ever find out what trigger d your MG. Autoimmunine disease just doesn't happen for no reason. Often there is a trigger. It could be a trauma, a bout of illness such as the flu or an infection, surgery, extreme or prolonged stress, environmental hazards or toxins. THere is always a reason the immune system goes haywire and starts attacking healthy tissue. Admittedly it can be very difficult to pinpoint why.

Have You any idea what your trigger might have been. And if so, what steps can you take to ensure you tackle the root cause of your MG. . You might not be able to reverse the damage but you able to avoid further problems.

Pred is all very well but all It does is dampen down the auto immune response. It's only a way to try and ease symptom.

I am concerned that your body needs time to heal and you are not giving it time, and, if you spend too much money now you are going to be forced into going back to work too soon.

But hey.....you should know my views by now. I've repeated them often enough.

The Italian guy with MS gets it. ;)
  • Thanks again Scott ! You talk a lot of sense :)
Once I get back albeit slowly, there'll be no stopping me :)

    Thanks again LL :)

Believe it or not , I feel much better now . I'm not getting too stressed out about painting . Honest :) would you believe , all was going well until I slipped at the very end and made a small mark on the carpet . It was just an accident :)

Initially as I said last year , the aim was to get myself settled within 6 months. It was an estimation . I think you are right , that I should slow down .

It's bizarre trying to explain my situation since November when I moved. Then of course, I was stressed to the max, as you all know .
As soon as I got to my first flat on Poole quay , the tension left me like a click of a finger.

Unfortunately, my immune system was shot . This meant I had flu , for over a month . I even tried a gym before xmas for 3 sessions, but I wasn't ready and the gym was too basic with ltd machines etc.

I am thankful that my friend is around (and his family ).
This has led to me having a few ciders here and there. About once every 2 weeks at the moment . It is what I needed . Bearing in mind I'm alone really .

I still have time to get the painting done , and aim to do it stress free.
I was over in my new flat gain today and the more I go there, the more at ease I feel about everything . I should do , as I bought it :)

TBH , there's not much wrong . Bathroom is where I should spend .
The rest is minimal . I think I'll keep the carpet .
The kitchen worktop sink and vinyl flooring and that'll be it .

I'm gonna watch everything now . I don't think I've spent wrecklessly to be fair, and don't intend to .

What caused my myasthenia gravis ?
Well: it was 10 years of prolonged stress imho. The doctors and specialist don't comment when I used to be asked.

2006 , got made redundant from best ever job.
Straight into temping . A few positions .
Then , one of the worst jobs in my life as you all know .
When I started that job , I did not want to be permanent . There were 2 people who hated each other. I was the newbie in the middle .
The whole building was horrible . Nasty security guard ( who got sacked 5 years later & who one of my colleagues was using against me ) . A very cliquey place , where there was jealousy against me from a narcissistic colleague Blah blah blah .you know the rest.

Then I had my brother ..
He lost his job . He is difficult and eccentric by nature .
I put him up initially for 6 months . No money from him ,but criticism.
Then my finances were beginning to collapse .
I tried consolidating . I had a lot of positive equity , but when I was refused one more shot at consolidating ,,I found payplan .

In the middle of all this , I decided to keep,my brother as a trial, run.
He paid me rent. Always in dribs and drabs . The gypsy way iyswim
This meant I let his flat out for him . Nightmare !
It was around this time he got a job working nights.
This meant I could no longer make noise in my own flat when I wanted. When the neighbour next door was teaching piano lessons to pupils , he was banging on the wall and shouting .
I found a letter she put through the door . I was horrified .

Then he wants me to do his shopping, paying me in dribs and drabs and constantly moaning if I got a replacement if something was sold out . It was him that broke my washing machine by overloading it .

I was getting fed up,of his company in the pub as he was staring at people and making me uncomfortable .
He was telling people he knew, that I'm chucking him out .
He was running me down to them . He is !!!!less and has tunnel, vision.
He started rows very early in the morning, while I'm trying not to,let the neighbours know my business . Shouting like a spoilt brat .

I was constantly covering shifts for my colleague who has a disabled wife . One way traffic there . I had to be Laurence Olivier to keep the peace as I had to keep the job while £25k in debt. I couldn't go to the gym as the change in shifts and the increaased buiding chaos in the city ,,meant I was coming home 1-2 hours late.

Then I had my brother telling me to stay in Twickenham . Dont ever leave it . If I didn't have my company suit, I'd virtually no clothes to wear .
He was telling me , if I went to,live here in Poole, I'm moving to die.
I was like a bluebottle stuck in a glass box . He didn't care about my condition . He was swearing at me when i refused to do something on the phone for him . I could hardly speak . I had dysphraxia for a while and had to go to a speech therapist . That is a side effect of m g .

Then I had 5 years of us thinking my mum was gonna die .
Trying to get over there and stagger it out between the family.

I think that is what caused my myasthenia .
I never whinged or moaned . I just carried on ,took everything on the chin . I had to fight back, once in the blue moon. In truth I was treading on eggshells for years .

    I feel much better now.

I'm a little put out my specialist appointment has been put back to September . The last time he saw me , he was aiming to ween me off everything this year . I'm determined to,look better in September .
I expect to be free from everything next year .

Well that certainly fits the bill of extreme and prolonged stress:o

I think your best plan now is rest, sleep, healthy eating, fresh air and the gym as and when you feel stonger, always taking care not to overdo things.

No more bull at a gate!!

    Look after yourself.
  • Another restless night .
After watching a really funny episode of frasier this morning , I ventured over to the flat . I went into the gas room , and gave everything one coat. That was enough for today .
Tomorrow , the other coat shall be done .

Looking at the carpets , I've decided they have to go. After giving the first coat , the carpet looked more clinical than cosy imho.
I'm putting my own stamp on the place as I go along .
Waiting for the plummimg co. To get back to me for a quote on the bathroom . I'll phone tomorrow , if I don't hear anything.
