  • I forgot to mention : I have obviously bought various floor covers and cling film for carpet . Everyhing was fine until I tripped and some paint went on the carpet by the kitchen . Some obviously was in the kitchen doorway . Accidents happen .

Besides, the last people were unclean . If I have to buy a carpet so be it . It may only be the hallway . The paint may come out if an industrial cleaner is used . My main priority, is to make the place appeal to me and paint asap.

I was looking at the bathroom again .
I'm thinking of just keeping the original layout , but reuplacing bath/ sink/ toilet . Paint the bayjroom obviously .
If the border tiles can be replaced on their own , then I'd go for that.
If not , I'll have to get new tiling . Of course ,there's the flooring .
Will go for vinyl for both, and probably the same colour too.
  • You need to put dust sheets on the floor to protect the carpet AC. Do you have a fold up chair you can use to sit on between coats?

I will have to get one :)
    See above :)

As long as it is not gloss paint most drips will come out of carpet. Sometimes it is easier to wait until it is dry then "scrape" it out of the pile, or scrub it gently with a nail scrubber. If the carpet has a fairly long pile then you can use some nail scissors to trim the pile which usually doesn't show. Re bathroom I thought there was some question over head height in shower (which I guess is over the bath). Would you consider getting rid of bath and having just a decent sized shower? I know some people like to keep a bath but I got rid of mine and don't miss it. A decent tiler should be able to just replace the border if you can match the size, but you can get some quite good tile "stickers" which may do the job just as well.
Lovely sunny day here but I have been haring round town doing various errands as car has to go in garage tomorrow. I think it will an expensive visit as the brakes need looking at as well as full service and MOT. Having a spendy few weeks at the moment.
  • Paint is emulsion , so,I'll try not to get too emulsional about it .
Good idea about the tile stickers :)
I may go for the shower. TBH , after feeling stiff I thought of a bath.
As the height is the issue, I'll probably go for the shower.

The issue will be the depth needed under the shower tray for the waste water outlets, which may be little different whether a bath or shower is installed.

As ever, get a professional plumber in to both advise on what is practical and give you a heads up on cost.

Of course you could go to one of the national companies that advertise in "What's on TV" and similar mags, for a modular replacement shower enclosure in the bath space, and just simply use stickers on the remaining exposed border tiles.

Either way get some quotes fairly quickly, cause a loo and shower are not things you can easily do without once you move in, unlike a kitchen refurb.
  • Thanks harz

True, I'll have to get a quote soon .
Had a slight heart attack yesterday. Got an email from the Lettings co,confirming my last day being end of April .
I'm actually not supposed to go until 31 may.
  • Ceiling and coving now painted . Hallway complete .
Went to Poole , paid my solicitor £90. Had breakfast in a Poole cafe, which I go to once a week .

May do another room over the weekend . Only 5 rooms left to paint ;)
I suppose with my condition it's little and often . Sounding a bit like darth Vader at times . Muscles in my arms tire easily these days .
Never thought I'd say that . Still , so far so good

Just went over to assess the situation . There may be a minimal amount of touching up required . I'd say my effort was more 6/10 than 3/10 :) . At least this time I never painted over switches / downlighting etc. It was around this time last year , I 'painted ' a wall I'm the living room , and the ceiling and walls in the hallway .
This time, there is improvement . Having said that , I have to be careful with each of the other rooms and not count any chickens .

Better nights sleep . Feeling more with it . Still have that slightly monged out feeling but not as bad .

My belly has got bigger . Combination of a more relaxed lifestyle , and drinking pints of cider . Not used to drinking pints .
Anyway , if the painting is completed next weeek, and I feel like today then I will join a gym . Initially for a month, and if all goes well then who knows :)

The gym on its own will not help you lose weight AC or help your health. Unfortunately you need to cut out pastries, fish and chips and cider/beer to lose weight or at least restrict them. Plenty of fresh fruit, veg and three regular meals, restricted sugar and alcohol. But you know all of this or at least we keep telling you ;) Don't let it get out of hand before your health forces you to take the warnings seriously.

Not working is a double edged sword. Less stress certainly until money issues raise their head again but you have more time to sit around and eat which is a bad thing. Maybe the decorating will keep you so busy you don't have time to overindulge.
