Had PPI on Tesco credit card even though was self employed

if you agreed and paid for them, you can have as many insurance policies covering the same eventuality as you want.
There is no "legal" issue here...0 -
The one-off chage is for CPP.
The monthly charge is PPI.
If you complain, you don't need the agreement, you need missell reasons. So you[well, your wife really] write to tesco, complain about the sale of the PPI and see what they say.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
You cannot have as many policies covering the same thing, especially sold by the same company. As they would only ever pay out 1 amount. Otherwise people could insure their cars with a few companies and get paid out multiple times.
I think we need to ask Tesco what CPP actually means / covers as some people think card theft others think PPI0 -
CPP is not PPI.a1carparts wrote: »I think we need to ask Tesco what CPP actually means / covers as some people think card theft others think PPI
You CAN have more than one insurance policy, but I don't think you did.
The CPP refund scheme ended almost three years ago.
You don't need to ask Tesco about CPP. You can simply Google;

As you obviously don't believe me, the above link is from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and explains in detail what CPP was and that it is far too late to complain about it.0 -
From a FOS decision on a Tesco credit card PPI policy taken out in February 2000- seems the application form had the option for both PPI and CPP.

"Tesco think Mr N bought the PPI by post when he applied for his credit card, because that was the only way they sold PPI at the time. They think Mr N would have ticked a box on his credit card application form confirming he wanted PPI, but they haven’t been able to provide a copy the actual application form. Instead they’ve sent us a sample copy of the form which they say was in use at the time.
The application form given to us by Tesco says the Cardholder Payment Protection (PPI) is “designed to cover your Tesco Visa Card payments in the event of death, accident, sickness or involuntary unemployment…” and “for cover just tick this box”. The form doesn’t explain the cost of the PPI, or, in my view, that it is a separate product from the credit card, or indeed that the PPI cost anything at all. Just below that box was another tick box to apply for a free trial of Card Protection cover (which protected against theft and fraud),"a1carparts wrote: »They have definitely been charging no matter what. Her very first statement was sent with balance of £394.45 and the charge was £2.74. She paid the balance over 2 weeks early and paid £500 so over paid yet the next month another charge.
I believe the cost of the PPI was 0.70p per £100 of the outstanding monthly balance of the card so the £2.74 charge would suggest she had PPI.

Yes0 -
Placida thank you for this information. I think when Tesco brought out this PPI in 2000 they worded it on the statement as cardholder protection. They then changed the wording in 2005 and that type of claim has now closed as someone above has said.
I will complain to Tesco and see how I go. I cant see why I would need to protect a zero balance or in fact a card that was on many months in credit at the beginning of the month0 -
You don't pay PPI on a zero balance.I cant see why I would need to protect a zero balance
The CCP reclaim period is over, that ship sailed long ago.0 -

Well it seems very strange to have been charged amounts varying from £2 - £10+ every month. All depending on how much I used the card. Even though it was cleared at the end of the month. Someone has advised that Tesco PPI was 70p per £100 and that is how much I was charged on each statement. The CPP you are talking about was 2005 on. Funnily my charge every month stopped in 2005 and I only paid an annual fee0 -
