What I like about Tesco's site is that you can print off a list of all your favourites and check list it, will have to check if MySupermarket has the same facility. .
Hi MikeD- you do have the chance to to look at your favourites in MySupermarket or to start with your last trolley - or to start from scratch. I haven't tried printing off the favourites list but used it on the screen to fill my latest trolley having checked the contents of my cupboards first.
I don't have a big stock of stuff in my freezer to use up as I emptied it in the summer to defrost and haven't filled it up completely again. Though I do lots of home made stuff. For example, this evening I had taken out 500g of mince to make my own burgers, then remembered that I couldn't re-freeze them uncooked, so I made 4 lovely beef and mushroom burgers with half of it for tomorrow night's supper and used the rest to make bolognese sauce which I have frozen. I also took the remnants of meat off the very tiny chicken I cooked on Saturday and made two individual chicken and mushroom pies for later in the week and stock from the bones. Some of the stock and the veg used in cooking it will make me some soup to take to work in later in the week and the rest of the stock will go in the freezer for use in casseroles and soups later. I also made a victoria sandwhich so my DH can have some cake when he gets hungry round 4-0-clock! I find it's best to make something he can eat legitmately rather than let him loose on the biscuit tin!
Sorry didn't mean to ramble on! Thanks everyone for your good ideas and encouragement. Have a good week.0 -
I've just spent a good hour going between Sainsburys
and Asda to see how much I can save and if I choose the lower branded stuff.
I normally shop at Sainsburys and using this website I can see I'm still better off with them as I thought Asda would be cheaper.
I've managed to save about £15 a month on my shop just by selecting the Sainsbury's brand and some of the value stuff and the price swap system built into the website(the calorie swap was interesting but pricey!)Em Tysoe

Hello folks - I'm still hanging on in here and waiting for payday, Oct 15th, to be able to join in properly. Practising the money-saving old style at the moment and trying to empty the freezer ready for the pre-Christmas defrost!!!
Did anybody see Martin on TV last night - demonstrating his 'downshift challenge' to a family who were in love with their 'branded items'? Showed a young girl insisting on branded shampoo because the cheaper item would 'make her hair go dry and brittle' - hmmmm since when does a child make those kind of decisions! Buy the 'own label' one, woman, and decant it into the branded bottle, for goodness sake!! At least that's what I did for years - with none of them any the wiser!!!

I know what you mean Olliebeak... I was getting so impatient waiting for payday to get here... I just wanted to get started...
But today is payday for me
Andl thats me started now.......
My budget is £30 per week for the next 4 weeks. This is for food, drink, toiletries and cleaning material, and other stuff I buy from the supermarkets.
I will also be trying to spend only £30 per week on fuel for the next 4 weeks. I travel 25 miles each way to work every day... so that might be a tricky challenge after the recent fuel increase.... but I will give it a go. I still have about 150 miles left in fuel in the car for to start off my month.
So far I have spent £7.55 in asda... on a few bits of food, and a few tupperware dishes to use for batch cooking stuff for the freezer. I also bought a little notebook to write everything down... it was 18p and comes out of the budget.
I do have quite full a food cupboard and freezer.. so I think I will be okay food wise. Just fresh fruit and veg to buy really. I bought some wine making stuff a couple of months ago, but have not got round to doing that yet.. so will get that started.. hopefully Thursday. I am a little low on some cleaning materials and plan to go to Costco at the weekend to replenish / look for bargains. But if its too expensive, will look for bargains else where:rolleyes:
Good luck to all this month... will update you all with my running total soon0 -
Whoooops... my last post started with an angry smiley.......
Sorry all... I am not angry.. just been working all night and must have pressed the angry smiley by mistake0 -

That struck a cord with me!! I've just finished a bottle of green fairy last night am am going to decant my Tesco Value into it.. Now I don't have a problem with the stuff but MiL does (hence I had a bottle of fairy - she took it upon herself to buy it for me  ). This way I can stop the *looks* and pay 13p a bottleApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Try this for 4 o clokers for a wee change ....
200grams ginger nut biscuits (value / smart price is fine)
100grams desicated coconut (10p at asda just now)
100grams sultanas
50grams butter
400grams plain chocolate (value / smart price is fine)
Melt the chocolate and the butter together.
Break up the biscuits... not to a powder... some small, some larger bits
Mix the coconut and sultanas with the biscuits...then add to the chocolate.
Put into a lined / greased baking tray and chill.
Cut up into bite sized bits
yumyumyum
You can add 50grams of crystalised ginger cut up into little bits if you wish a greater ginger flavour.
You can use digestive biscuits if you wish....
You can use milk chocolate if you wish.....
And it freezes okay too.0
