I'm no expert but the two jobs that you have had don't seem to have lasted very long, does your CV explain why this is?

Do you tailor your CV to each job that you apply to or do you send each Company the same one?

There seems to be a 2 year gap between leaving Uni and starting work, why is this and is it explained on your CV?

Have you got a professional profile/personal statement or similar on there?

What kind of feedbak are you getting from the interviews you have had? To be honest your CV can't be that bad if you are getting an interview but what happens after that? They would know you were under/over qualified before inviting you to interview so I doubt that can be the reason.

The two year gap I failed to find a job, I had a month long job but that ended because I got fired.

No the CV does not explain why the jobs only last a few months. The reason I left EE was for the Balfour Beatty job, where they decided not to keep me past probation. Basically, I have struggled to secure long term employment.

I tailor my CV to most roles.

There is no personal statement on the CV. I was advised against it by other students but they may be wrong.

I am starting to think that I may be unemployable now, it is very difficult.

The eyebrow raiser is the amount of things op apparently achieved in each of those short jobs. That may put off some cv reading HR reps.
  • So you were fired from one job and not kept on after probation on the other? Why was that?

Have you thought about legal claims litigation for solicitors, once you get into such a role you can progress up the ladder.

The Balfour Beatty stuff does come across as BS. If I received that I'd assume the candidate had copied his manager's LinkedIn profile.

sevva, what have you been doing to fill your time, hopefully some voluntary work? Have you applied for graduate schemes?

Whatever this online income is needs to go on there, because otherwise it just looks like you've been nothing for over a year.

I think you just need to get work, any work.

Temping may be the answer for you in the short term. Are you signed up with all the local agencies?

I hate to sound harsh but I can see why employers won't consider you. You have big gaps on the CV and the jobs you've had are pretty short lived. You need to get something recent on there.

Agreed no point in spending on law conversion. But have you applied for training contracts? If you have and have got nowhere then law won't be your career. You then need to think of your degree as a generic arts/humanities one.

Your best bet would probably be to go back to your uni careers office and get advice. Some voluntary work would help plug gaps in experience. And yes there are more jobs down south but the cost of living, especially of accommodation, is eye watering. You will need to plan carefully and be very, very determined.

On second thoughts I do know law graduates who failed to get training contracts after graduating, but who then got jobs as paralegals and got training contracts on the back of that.

Nope definitely achieved these things in the short jobs, the problem with the role with balfour beatty was that I had disagreements with a manager and she decided to complain to my director who I was working under.
