I throw out a Maybelline lipstick that made me look like a corpse. I saw a lot of new inventory in tk maxx and was not tempted much to buy anything new. It did have a lot of a lot of dresses that were rebranded to the Adrienne Vittadini and so it was the ivanka dresses on clearance. I was surprised to see a lot of real low end make up in tk maxx like W7 and johnsons moisturizer.
I am in the middle of a big litre of sebamed shower gel and I am bored of it, it is so never ending. I might have to swap it out for a while. I started using the Elizabeth arden visible difference with and spf. It is making for more bad make up days and seems to have a real waxy residue. It is terrible to consider using it as a moisturizer for my legs. It is very wasteful but it is literally not making a great impression. Years ago the old visible difference absorbed so well.
My hair is falling out again so it is not inspiring me to do much with it. I suppose that I get a lot of stress. I got some good news that the makeup bag was found and that made me happy. However, work upped a gear with stress to a new level.0 -
UU 200ml shower smoothie, found a few mini hotel soaps at the back of a shelf0

SFT - sorry to hear work is stressful. I can relate, and also to the hair situation. Mine is quite thin and lank and breaks. I need a decent cut and colour really it's been over a year but i can't bring myself to spend the money. I always feel good the day I get it done but a few later I'm not sure I should have bothered as costs a fortune. I also really worry I won't like it and I have no motivation or time at the moment to book an appointment. Gah I know I should as it's annoying me and I feel ugly at the moment!
Glad your makeup bag was found though!:T0 -

The few line reviews are usually from people who are requesting items to sell them so aren't able to properly review them. There is also a big problem with Vine in that honest reviews get the least thumbs up, especially with the toiletries. I have given several of the toiletries I have reviewed detailed reviews and 4 stars and my reviews have hardly any positive votes. The 5 star one line "Lovely item, would make a great gift" reviews have lots of positive votes. In one of my reviews for a product that was for sensitive skin I pointed out it contained two well-known trigger ingredient that should not be in a sensitive skin product. None of the other reviewers mentioned this and mine was the review at the bottom of the pile. This issue gets discussed on the Vine forums a lot, but there doesn't seem to be anything anyone can do about it.
I'd like to think that selling on is less of a problem - but I honestly don't know. It makes me somewhat angry, and I'm of the opinion that those caught should be removed from Vine, there are no excuses. I have very little spare money and I don't do it, tempting though it may be. I don't quite agree with naming and shaming, though seeing blatant offenders removed did restore some faith in the system.
For items like toiletries I think the issue of inadequate Vine reviews is largely just laziness. Certain reviewers have openly stated they have little interest in reviewing items other than high end items. Then they moan they have few high end items offered...
I'm happy to review anything suitable that I think I can genuinely use. Sometimes I'm wrong and the product isn't suitable but this is rare.
There's a good debate going on in the Vine forums at the moment on the way Amazon now rank reviews. It is so frustrating when good revies are hidden due to one or two spiteful negative votes, both as a reviewer and a purchaser. I can understand Viners who don't participate in the forums - it does seem a good way of drawing attention to negative votes. I am gobby, so I do participate!
I have plummeted down the rankings but this doesn't seem to affect what I'm offered in Vine. The drop is due to the random scattering of negative votes on apparently solid reviews, same as almost everybody else. My review on the Burt's Bees gift set has already been negged.
I've got a neg vote on a review I need to edit as one review is showing as two separate items.
When this happens I delete the review and rewrite it, as the rewritten review is no longer the seemingly unhelpful review that attracted the neg vote. Other than that I don't 'wash' my reviews of negative votes by deleting and reposting.
Phew...
UU - Wilko Rhubarb and Vanilla shampoo. The dregs of this ended up in the washing machine. It made a good woollens wash. I'd received it as a birthday gift either one or two years ago.
WIB - No, it's okay but it isn't anything special. There are cheaper products I like better and more expensive products that are a treat for my hair rather than a simple fragranced cleanser, which is all this is.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
