Im absolutely fuming,my wife works 3 days a week including ever sunday.
She wanted to stop working sundays so we wrote a letter giving 3 months notice to stop Sunday"s as per employment law.
This was agreed with team leader and store manager..3 months pass and manager is now refusing to sign new contarct and states that wife must still work every other sunday or every other saturday.
Im physiclay at the point of going down and smashing his teeth down the back of his throat...bloke thinks he can disctate to my wife and bare face lie about agreeing new contarct getting her to work the 3 months on sundays and then say he wont honour the agreement.
Apart from smacking the chinless wonder whats peoples thoughts on dealing with this clown.
Apoligises for the tone of the post but im furious...my wife is far to easy going and i see she is having the !!!! taken out of her and wont stand for it,as no husband would.:mad::mad:

Really? You resort to violence every time your wife doesn't get what she wants?
She only works three days, and she doesn't want to work one of them. What is your solution? Preferably one that does not involve you going to prison.
And you may not have noticed, but it's 2017, and women do not need men to fight their battles for them. It is her job and her responsibility to discuss with her manager without that manager being threatened with violence. But if you wish to act like a thug, have at it. She'll lose her job and you'll go to prison. That will solve the problem entirely.
You really should consider anger management classes.0 -
Your wife is an adult. Your wife is the employee. Your wife is responsible for managing her own work life.
This is nothing to do with you.
Why on earth do you think you have any right to speak on your wife's behalf in her employment matters?:hello:0 -

Here's the original post...:hello:0 -
She doesnt want to work one of her 3 days? They gave her the option to work every OTHER Sunday OR Saturday so i dont see what the problem is. She could always leave??
But as stated, the violence routine isnt cute anymore and if you have a wife and possibly kids, whats the point going to prison? If i was the manager id let you do what you want then have you sent to prison and id sack your wife as ANYBODY would do.
Ill assume you dont mean any of it though.0 -

You seem to miss the point and thats she has followed the relevant employment law and given 3 months notice as she has the right to stop working sundays as all Shop employees who work other than just sundays.
Regards violence..just venting my frustration, however im kind of old fashioned, when someone blatantly takes the !!!! out of my wifes good nature i get quite annoyed, she doesnt feel able to refuse requests as she is easily intimidated.
So question still stands...she has been lied to by her manager and she feels very let down.
Im assuming her manager cant change contract after previously agreeing a different contract.
Tiddlywinks...well as she has asked me to as she feels intimidated by the manager, and when my family asks for my support i"ll damn well give it.
You assume all women (and men for that matter) feel they are treated equally in the work place and have the confidence to stand up to chinless bullies like this guy is.;)0 -
She has been given the opportunity to choose how she makes up her hours. If she no longer wants to work her contractual hours, then she can resign and find another job. I'm sorry, but this is three days a week, so she is already part time, and now she wants the employer to arrange their business and all other employees around the times she would like to work. It may be her legal right to opt out of Sunday working that she had agreed to - but nobody said she could opt out of Saturday working.
I do not see what your wife thinks it's unfair about this. She does not wish to work Sunday. She's been given an option. Either every other Sunday, or every other Saturday. She's not wanting to work Sunday, so she works Saturday. Simples.
Or do you mean that she doesn't want to work Sunday and the employer is supposed to organise their business around her so as not to inconvenience her? I'm afraid employment doesn't work like that.0 -
Did your wife get the agreement from her manager in writing?0

This is better than anger management classes...easy to blow off steam and smile at the holier than thou replies whilst enjoying my coffee.
You assume all women don't..maybe some still do,maybe some need support...good heavens wanting to support my mrs yes very 1970"s.0 -
You can indeed opt of of Sunday working, having taken a job agreeing to work them or having contracted to work them. However ... Your (or your wife's if your fighting her battles) employer DOES NOT have to offer you the hours at another time. In other words you can drop the day and not work it. They CAN offer you the hours on another day but they don't have to. If the chinless wonder manager has a staff budget to stick to and needs someone to work on the Sunday he can use your wife's hours for someone else, either as a contract change or by taking someone on. When I was a retail manager I had to do this once when 3 staff opted out of Sundays, We ran the shop floor with about 6 staff on a Sunday so impossible to do anything else. I never had a staff members partner come in and try and chin me, but I worked in Liverpool, Manchester, Blackpool, Warrington, Chester, Ellesmere Port, St Helens, Bolton, Stockport etc. All tough northern towns. Shoplifters tried to chin me at least weekly. Toughens you up I found, fighting so much.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

From Gov UK website....
Staff who opt out of Sunday working mustn’t be treated unfairly.
An employee can’t be dismissed or treated in an unfavourable way for choosing not to work on Sundays.
So your wife does not go in {be it her "shift" or not} then if any comeback head for the courts as you SHOULD win0
