If it's just me and Mel then I say sod it, let's drink Ruinart all day.
I'll have to see, what with having just got myself a girlie & all."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

I'm not sure she's ready to meet my cyber-buddies. Nor is she a shopper, so I can't drop her in oxford street while I get blotto with you guys.
Off for a hot weekend in the lakes next weekend. :j"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.

Righto, I'm still hunting for a venue, but have come to the conclusion that somewhere close to London Bridge is good.
1. It's near the river. No-one gets lost near the river
2. It's relatively close to Waterloo, London Bridge, Liverpool St, KX and Paddington (Jubilee and Baker St) stations.
3. There are some decent pubs around there.
Part of me quite fancies The Rake, which is the smallest pub in London. Capacity 40, I reckon. Not very MSE, mind... http://www.timeout.com/london/bars/reviews/9196.html
If we're going for MSE, I'll find a Sam Smiths pub, like the Captain Kidd at Wapping (not the easiest to get to, mind) http://ultimatepubguide.com/pubs/info.phtml?pub_id=300

Both sound great to me
I'm torn, between the shadow of Southwark Cathedral and the river frontage.
Have you seen the %s on some of those beers at the Rake?!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The Rake is really nice. I got really sunburnt about a month ago sitting outside. The beer is fab.
The Captain Kidd supplies beer at 2 quid a pint, and you can sit along the river. It's also 30 seconds from Wapping tube, although not the easiest to get home from if you live outside of London...

Captain Kidd is a cracking pub. They do a good steak and ale pie in there. As you say, tough to get to.
What about Clerkenwell? That's pretty easy to get to from all the mainline stations.0
