Ok so I know I am biased but my DD always looks lovely in photos - even photo booth photos she looks like a model. I have just got the proof through for her school photo and it is awful
she hates it and had banned me from buying it. But it is her first photo at this school and I always buy them.
Does eveybody else out there always buy the school photos every year ? just wondered how bad a mother I would be if I dont buy the photo

I'venot bought one of DD yet. Admittedly she is only 2yrs and 10 months old. First nursery photo she was crying so that one was terrible - and last year she looked very solemn indeed. So I didn't buy it. She assures me that she smiled when she had one done yesterday - so this may be the first I buy.
If it's awful - save your money:)Grocery challenge July £250

If your DD doesn't want you to buy it, save your money. You will have far too many opportunities to give money to the school.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Aww...
I had a similar problem with DD's first holy communion pic....I just didn't like it at all!
I try not to feel guilty for not buying it though as we have a few more pics taken on the actual day where she looks beautiful!
Why not attempt a 'school picture' yourself...get her when she's tidy, in the pose they use with a plain background etc. Bet it will be great!
As said before save your pennies....no doubt the school will want them for something else soon!

Invest in your own digi camera and take ure own pics. My hubby takes about 50 pics minimum every time we go on a day trip and compared to school photos they are fantastic and very natural which I feel is important as they reflect their character and personality better than schools ones.Excited for Florida - May 2012 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

My mum insisted on buying my first secondary school photo, and even now I really wish she hadn't. I look awful!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

With my four children, I have always bought the first one in primary school, the first in junior school and the first and last one in senior school.
Mind you my oldest is 20 and then the cameras at home werent all that great. My children do laugh at them now though, eventhough at the time they thought they were awful.
If she really doesnt want you to buy it, how about asking her to pose in her school uniform at home to take an "official" school portrait.

My ds is 4 and we've just got the proof photo's and don't know which one to order- this is his first school photo- he normally strikes a pose for the camera but i don't know what went wrong this time
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our DD's last photo session ended with just the whole class being done, not enough time for individual photos.
I don't really want another pics of everyone else's kids, so I didn't buy it.
I heard some of the other parents just scanned it into their pc so they had a record of it, but didn't have to pay. I didn't think that was allowed though, but very MSE of them!:pMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

If you could see how quickly the photographs are done it's not surprising some aren't good. The ones taken after lunch are the biggest pain - we end up frantically swapping jumpers as some have the inevitable yoghurt down the front by then. Of course, then hair gets messed up to add to the frizz achieved at playtime...
Don't feel pressured - I would say that about half of my class would buy the pic.0
