No not a single system .............a fair one not the vast difference there is as it stands with more than double the employer contribution to public sector pensions than in the private sector thanks to the tax payer. It wont change as they dont want to upset the public sector and get them throwing their toys out the pram with threatening strike action etc. And please dont tell me that we are on better wages than the public sector as ive never heard such rubbish

So tell me all those bleating on their 1% pay increase would you like to join us in the private sector ?..................As i thought so carry on looking forward to a nice pot at 55 to enjoy life with..................we cant

Blimey - do you want some salt and vinegar to go with that chip on your shoulder?!

I'm not bleating about a pay rise. I DO work in a local authority. I am 56 - so not retiring at 55 - chance'd be a fine thing. I reckon I've got another 10 years minimum to work before I can think about retiring.

Hate to point out the obvious - but even public sector workers pay tax. So we are paying for our own pensions, right?

I actually agree with you, I think a system where the pay and benefits were aligned between various sectors is a good idea!

Well, technically anyone who uses your company's services are contributing to your pension.

As for the "no wage review" that's not the public sector workers fault.

If you think you can get better elsewhere there is nothing stopping you trying.

I'm actually paying for your pension and wage increase every time I make a payment on my insurance. Just the same as I pay for every other pension in the private sector. It is not my fault if you employers prefer to keep that money for themselves. You want to have a bigger pension and a bigger wage increase - talk to your own employers just like everyone else has to do, private or public sector. You don't seriously think that these are things that are handed down like jelly beans? Pay and pensions were fought for by public sector workers and their unions; and are still being fought for. But it's this weird thing. Public sector workers fight their own employers, not yours. So what have YOU done to tackle your OWN employer? Nothing? Oh, what a surprise, NOT...

But you really are a wonderful example of Gramscian hegemony...

    No.

12% (or more) deducted from the salaries of many public sector workers. This is a personal contribution which comes off people's salary. This is in addition to the employer contribution.

You can also get a good pension pot. You do it by contacting your employer and start paying in 12% of your salary to your pension (or more if you have started late).

If you choose to pay into your pension a much smaller % of your salary than public sector workers do, that is your choice so don't complain when your pension is smaller.

Youve missed my point my argument is that the public sector employer (tax payer) pays in a far more generous amount than the private sector employer I know i can pay more in and ive asked the company if they would match it and unsurprisingly they said no

Our company will pay in 8% for an employee contribution of 4% and up to 10% for 6% or above.
