I aint got a prob this year £32k thats mostly doing 60 hour weeks .......Bit like quoting some comments on here "You dont join the army to polish your rifle" Nurses are taking the brunt i agree however if you werent paying consultants £120k plus a year to do three day weeks whilst doing private work the other two might have abit more of a argument0

The CARE public sector schemes remain very good because the unions completely outmanoeuvred the coalition government in negotiations for replacing the old final salary schemes. In particular, they ensured a big improvement in accrual rates - e.g. the LGPS went from 1/60 final salary to 1/49 career average. (Overall, the CARE LGPS is officially costed to be no less expensive than the final salary schemes it replaced!
Shame the unions never fought our final salary rip it from under your feet system.......................I rest my case0 -

What are you rambling on about?0 -
Difference is I cant walk out the door at 55 with a good pension which those in the public sector can which weve paid for, it boils down to the fact the tax payer has contributed far more to the public sector pensions than the employers have in the private sector and this idea of pay is lower in the public sector is complete rubbish. Plus of course far more claims for expenses in the public sector working overseas for the FCO and you get school fees paid etc i know of one who claimed £2k because they went to a "colder climate" and needed a few warm jumpers for 3 months
Yes you can. Anyone can walk out at 55 and claim their private pension should they so wish. Sector makes no difference.
As for the lower pay being complete rubbish as I said earlier I'm currently looking to move into the private sector as the pay for my job is 30% to 40% higher there. Granted it does depend on what you do but the higher up the scale you are the better off you are in the private sector in terms of salary. I would happily take a reduced pension if the salary matched that of the private sector.
Also a question you still haven't answered. If life is so much better in the public sector why aren't you moving?0 -
There is a vast difference between a good pension and a poor pension at 55 and yes im a member of the GMB . Why should i change jobs to get a fairer deal it should be the same not the vast difference it is One point to add i havent seen one comment from anyone saying their public sector pension isnt worth the paper its written on. I know of many who have retired in the last few years aged between 55 and 60 and certainly arent struggling to make ends meet.0

On the day I receive notification of 1% rise,i receive council tax bill up £8 a month....everything else will cost more,so in effect this is not a rise.I count myself lucky to be in employment and earning a wage, council budgets have been slashed and there is no magic money tree.0

How do you know they didn't overpay into their pensions? Take out additional private pensions, inherit money, save and be frugal all their lives?
At least two have stated that their pension far exceeded their expectations and that they are now planning to do alot of travelling etc and enjoy life ....................The rest of us got to work till we drop to pay for it.0 -

Ill agree its from 2011 but the quote saying that The public sector should realise just how much their pensions are costing the tax payer etc when they threatened strike action can not be dismissed ................end of0
