Indesit not playing ball

I bought an Indesit washing machine in November 2014 and havent had a problem with it so far. Recently it has begun to spin very loudly, so I know that the drum bearings need replacing.

I contacted Indesit through their website and the phoned me back.

A very shortened version of the phone call follows:

Do you have an extended warranty?
Not anymore. Its run out.
Would you like to further extend the warranty, even though it has run out? That way you wont have to pay for the call out and labour costs.
I paid cash for the washing machine when I bought it as I dont have debit or credit cards and my building society account doesnt allow direct debits. You sent me a letter asking if I wanted to extend the warranty, but obviously I couldnt.
What do you mean, you dont have cards?
I dont have cards. I never have and I never will.
Can I take your details to check?
(Details given)
Yes your extended warranty has run out.
Yes I know.
But you do still have the 10 year motor and parts guarantee.
Thats good. Im happy to pay, whatever. I can give the engineer the cash.
Oh we dont accept cash anymore.
Pardon?
We dont accept cash as a payment option anymore?
Since when?
It changed about 4 months ago.
Well I have no other means of payment. I have always paid cash.
Blah....blah....blah.......
Blah....blah....blah......
Im sorry but there is nothing we can do to help you.
Pardon? You have obviously changed the Terms and Conditions on my purchase without contacting me? Isnt that a breach of contract?
Like I said, unfortunately there is nothing we can do to help you.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Are they allowed to do that? Alter the T+C's on anything without contacting people about it? Aren't the T+C's part of the contract?

The stupid thing is that not once have I quibbled about paying. I am happy to do so, whatever it costs, as it is a fantastic machine. But I cant pay on a card.

I seems like they have wiped their hands of me, because the guarantee and warranty have run out.

Surely I, amongst many others, am being discriminated against for not having credit or debit cards, when they were more than happy to take my cash when I bought it, and was given as an option for payment for repairs on the original T+C's?

Am I being diddled

Could you not pay via bank transfer or cheque?

Or drive to their headquarters and pay cash?

I completely see why they do not want you paying cash to the engineer...

Did you buy direct from Indesit? (If not, your contract is with the retailer)
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Would they take a postal order?

Did you buy the machine from Indesit directly?

No, it was bought from Curry's in November 2014. There was a years guarantee with it and a free further years warranty if you registered online.

Can you quote the term/condition from when you bought the washing machine that they are now refusing to honour? If not then I think you would be better trying to find some way of complying with one of their current acceptable payment methods.

    Other than the initial call.
Did you ask to speak to a supervisor ?

The ten year part guarantee is useless anyway as the engineer visit costs a fortune, you don't really think they give these parts away for free do you?

Just get your local independent repair shop out, they will probably be cheaper anyway.

They didn't as you never bought it from Indesit. The manufacturer owe you nothing outside the terms of their warranty.

You need to move into the 21st century and get a bank account that had a debit card and allows direct debits.

By paying for everything in cash and not using direct debits you must spend thousands of pounds a year extra on all your bills and not being able to purchase things cheaper online. If you choose to live in the past you can't expect companies to cahnge how they work just for you.
