when OOH was 50 the kids and I made the cake (choc refridgerator cake type) AND stuck 50 candles on it

I would just go and get a kid's cake - some great ones in tesco

As for the ice slice idea it was because he loves ice slices & I was going to get those number candles so would spruce it up.

Yes he's not having a party as such but having people around & it was going to be a relative small one.

Fortunately one of the girls in work has come up trumps & ive got a replacement coming, cheaper than the original & I know will be made perfectly - have tasted her cakes in the past so I know what it's like.

TBH, I did think it was a bit of a storm in a teacup but I didn't realise until your later post that you were having a small gathering so can understand why you wanted a cake.
I thought there'd just be the 2 of you.
