I have just had a text from Stepchange to say my DMP is in place.
I'm paralysed with anxiety and feel like it is the end of the world.... Will t feel better?
Don't worry, I'm nearly at the same stage as you. Very new to all this DMP stuff and learning all the time.
If you've set up a plan with SC just let the payments start and try and forget about the debt and the end date, that's what I'm doing. Unless of course you intend to go self managed one day then I suggest read, read, read all the threads on here which is also what I'm trying to do.
There is plenty of help here, the folks are so helpful so any problems, just ask.

Congrats, this is not a time to worry but a time to celebrate :T You've made that first major step on the road to being debt free :j
I started my DMP with SC in 2011 and honestly it was the best thing I ever did. Every creditor came back and stopped interest and accepted my payments. I had to drop the amount I paid to them in the second year on my DMP and they had no issues and all was accepted. I'm now 6 years in and have had no problems being on the DMP. I've now plucked up the courage to go self managed and as Vaper said, just keep re-reading these threads... there is so much good information here.
You'll see, in a few months time you'll wonder why you even were worried. Good luck with your DMP. Let us know how well it all goes0 -

What is it you think may happen ???
You've done the hard bit, the rest is just a walk in the park.

Hi Tears
It is the end of the world, the end of the living in debt world for you, so this is a good thing. Your life will change, but it will be for the better. All change is hard, we're hard wired against change so just take a step back, a deep breath and say, this is a new beginning for me, where I will learn to budget (or budget better), and plan my expenses.
That's not to say it won't be difficult at times, there will be hiccups, and if your DFD is a long way off, it may feel very tough, but it will be better than living in fear of being unable to pay your bills, and it will get better, and you will be paying off your debt.
Stick around and learn more and you may decide on a different route to a SC DMP, but it'll be an informed choice and for now a SC DMP is probably your best option.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday to you all. I'm sitting here sorting through some paperwork whilst binge watching Game of Thrones, what an exciting life I lead. I haven't got past the "ignoring it" stage with the huge pile of ironing, baby steps!
Anyway, to the point. I've just filed some papers from Halifax and suddenly realised I might have had a default notice from them but I'm not sure.
It seems unlikely as from what I have read they don't rush this action and I only defaulted six months ago but also because the letter is dated 23rd Feb and the statements I have had since then are still charging interest and charges. I was under the impression that all this charges stopped when you got a Default notice?
The letter is entitled DEFAULT NOTICE (Served under section 87 (1) of the Consumer Credit Act 1974)
Any ideas? I don't have access to my credit report to check but can do the £2 request (I was going to wait a few months to do that check)Debt on 25/5/17
Mortgage[STRIKE] £61,999[/STRIKE] £59,335
Secured loan approximately[STRIKE] £20,000[/STRIKE] £19,353
Unsecured debt in DMP with Stepchange[STRIKE] £38,887[/STRIKE] £37,7630 -
OK so I lied, I forgot I have access to Noddle, just checked that and no default for Halifax, I guess that answers my question!
Two defaults showing on there one for Capital One that I've never been notified of and one for First Direct also never been notified of. Some accounts showing as up to date which is interesting. The two defaults I do have notices for are only showing as late payment, all very strange.Debt on 25/5/17

Creditors dont always follow through a default notice with a default on your credit file, they are two separate things altogether.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Succesful call to sc today.
Acheived the required result.payments reduced from 180 to 80 and term extended.
What a part time salary does for motivation.
Avoided sequestration-I've never liked that word anyway.
SC were polite proffesional with some laughter.
Anyone else calling today may have to allow upto 30 mins to connect to the required advisor-not a prob though when you know you have to keep them imformed.

Ok so I got it wrong, all of my creditors are not on board! Just got a letter from Stepchange to say that Virgin are not accepting my DMP. Although I got letter from virgin to say they were happy to set up a repayment plan and to acknowledge stepchange, they have said that they are not happy with the amount.
Stepchange have said they will probably pass the debt on and just to contact them if and when with the new details. First payment going out on the 1st.
Got which looks to be a Default Notice from Halifax.0
