Just noticed the short mot which expires in July. OP if you do reject it when looking for another car always try and negotiate a new mot when buying from trader.
If they claim to repair it be careful as there are a number of ways to temporarily bodge a head gasket failure which would last a few days or weeks. Better to cut your losses by rejecting the car and returning it.0 -
I wouldn't have said an £1850 car should be classed as a "banger", however I do agree, as stated above, that it was the OP's decision to buy a car so far away from home and thus should factor this in if the car proved faulty, which it has.
I'm not sure what you're getting at re, the address. They seem to have a number of outlets, Watton in Norfolk being one of them. The fact they have another address makes no difference.
Ok maybe banger is a bit harsh but you don't get much for £1800.
As for the address , I can't find the garage in watton only in gloucestishire, not sure what that means , just find it odd.
I could only find the one outlet0 -

Sorry it's Watson I got the car from near Norwich0

The garage doesn't really have a leg to stand on, however they are entitled to ensure that the fault does exist so can insist on their mechanic taking a look. You are not obliged to accept any repair and are entitled to reject the vehicle for a refund.
As far as getting the car back to them is a tricky one. Whilst they are obliged to cover any reasonable costs you made the decision to buy a car 150 miles away from home so therefore in this instance I think it's entirely reasonable that you should get the car back to the trader yourself.
I would like to get my money back because as someone mentioned there are ways of doing a temporary bodge job on the head gasket.
If I take it all the way there and they refuse to give a refund what do I do? Do I leave the car there and claim through a small claims court or do I need to bring the car all the way back home with me?0 -

That would make it a lemon, not a banger0 -

So I returned this car back to them 130 mile trip broke down after 20 mins into the journey so called AA out and got them to tow the car all the way back there this was the week before Easter.
They has spend the last few weeks trying to fix it and eventually got back to me and said they cant fix as after fixing the head gasket the pistons are also faulty and some other problems has arisen and the car is not economical for them to repair and have decided to refund me.
Inorder to refund me they said to send the log book back to them and they will process the refund. I did this.
The guy rang me last week on Monday and said they has received the log book and asked my for account details to refund me so I gave him my sort code and account number he said the refund could take upto 14 days to process (22nd May)
A weeks has passed now and still no refund and checking last night they has re advertised the car again on ebay and gumtree.
I am really concerned now as they have the car, log book and my money.
Is there anything I can do should they be relisting the car for sale before refunding me as legally I am still the owner of the vehicle on the log book until they refund me.0
