  • Just to say Congratulations! :T
Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime

Finally dealing with my whopping debt!
  • We had our wedding reception in teh Hilton too it was fantastic, I wish I could do it all over again.

Good luck with your dress, I know what you mean about possibly ending up with something totally different from you ever imagined! i actually bought one cheaper than I could have got it made (£199) from bows & belles?

Your favours sound gorgeous, we had spring tulip bulbs in boxes for people to plant (much cheapness)

We also got a fantastic deal from a local photographer who is just starting out on her own - it was £250 but I have shown my wedding album so many times it was so worth it! pm me if you want details (I don't like listing websites on forums) I look fab (i am very self conscious about a couple of things but she photoshopped the pics for me lol) even if I do say so myself

anyway good luck, I want to have my wedding day all over again!!

Ooh congratulations all you brides-to-be. I'm a tad jealous because I'd love to have something like this to plan. My time will come no doubt ;)
  • Not updated for such a long time! THings have been going well, posted the invites out last week-end and had some replies back already :D
The dress is started, nothing like I had originally thought! But it is looking fabulous! Saved plenty of money in this and my bridesmaid dresses - my mum already had material in the house left over from other dresses!! So cost a has been limited to the net for the underskirt, the zip, the boning and an overlay fabric for the bodice!
Picked up some bargins in Tesco again - they had reduced all their wedding stationary stuff, got some table confetti (50p) and some bubbles in champagne bottles for the kids bags (24p).
Also, I have decided to go down the line of artificial flowers for my bouquets, I got one from a shop on ebay (for my bridesmaid) just to see if they were as good as they looked (got it for £5) and they are lovely. The one I am going for is more expensive, but I can sell it on afterwards.
Last week-end we went to a kilt shop ex-hire sale and picked up loads of bargins - got kilts for my youngest 3 nephews at £10 each (paid for my grandmas!) shirts varied from £2-10 my oldest nephew's kilt cost £100 but it is an adult size so should last him for a long time to come. My youngest nephew (3) got his whole outfit (except shoes) for £30!! And the kilts all have hems so can be let down when they grow:D:D:D

Well done on getting so far along and it still sounds like you're having fun with it all :D

If you need any help with photos/photoshopping/printing etc give me a shout as I'm a photographer (nature not weddings) and I can print onto canvas, cloth, stickers, magnets etc...nice for your scrapbooking approach perhaps?

Anyhow...good luck for the big day!

you are really getting sorted now.
We've found a band, that isn't doing a harvest festival the same day we're getting married.
we have somewhere to stop the night of the wedding. I'm part way through doing my stationery, i've got started on the hearts and they are going pretty well. I can't wait till i start getting the replies back and can save them all.
Tomorrow i'm going shoes shopping in Norwich, wish me luck i really think i'm going to need it.
Oh we picked up some silk orchids in shot glasses from Tesco's on friday for £1.41 each, we're going to use them to supliment the table decorations, we couldn't miss the offer really could we. and they look good as well.

I saw these silk Orchids in our local Tesco, and was considering them too!! After talking to the wedding co-ordinator at the hotel yesterday I think we're going for helium balloons - much fun to be had!! Good luck with the shoe shopping!! I was really lucky to get that pair on ebay, they were a perfect fit and just gorgeous!:D:D
We've had a few replies back now, with some people not managing - which we had expected, and it is fine, as we ended up inviting a little more than we had initially anticipated, as a result of some family illness.
Good luck with the rest of your planning!! I really need to find a great tiara now, the one I had bought originally does not go with the new dress, so my niece is going to wear it instead, so at least we will get the use out of it!
We're having kids at the wedding (4 nephews and a niece) so I was going to get them some gift bags from a company online that supplies them for weddings, they looked good and not too expensive, until they added on the VAT and shipping!!!! So I cancelled the order, and made up some goody bags myself with colouring books etc, that are really personal to each child - much cheaper!:D

I've made non messy and non noisy activity bags as well for my sisters children.
I found some shoes which is a miracle, in BHS so they were actually quite reasonable, now i just have to get used to walking in heels, even though they're only a smidgen past 2inches which is short for most folks.

I thought about balloons but i'm not really a balloon person, i hate the noise when they pop so we're just going for pot plants and the orchids.
