We got up in the middle of the night and went to the 24 hour ASDA because we knew they someone who worked the night shift and discounting round happened then.
We volunteered at an old folks day centre club on the day they did roast dinner..... for the dinner.
Volunteered to help on deprived problem teenager summer camp for a month between rentals because saved a months rent and food (it really wasn't worth the hassle).
Hired out my peddle cycle to a language school student and walked 3 miles to uni. for a week.
Cat sat and ate the organic chicken breasts left for the cat and bought the snotty persian a tin of whiskas (look not a bad person it wasn't go-cat or something like that).

Oh, I've been there! When I was at uni, and just after....
Stealing loo roll (huge industrial ones) because even pound shop paper was too expensive!
Leaving the holes in my jumper/jeans as a 'fashion statement'
Wearing shoes which had holes in the soles - soaking wet socks...might as well have not worn shoes at all..wearing flip flops in November as all my other shoes were duds..
Cutting my split ends off with the kitchen scissors
Eating korma sauce with rice as I couldn't afford veg or chicken!
Wearing a jumper in bed with 2 duvets rather than put the heating on (this has resulted in me being very cold, most of the time, even in summer!)
Walking miles and miles when I couldn't afford a 50p bus fare.
I could go on...I'm so very very glad I don't have to live like that any more. Ironically I only discovered MSE after I got out of debt, and I now know that if I'd lived then as I do now, I'd never have had to suffer. Lessons learnt!0 -
