Small jobs house and garden - one or two tradespeople?

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right section.
I have a few small jobs that need doing in the house and garden, would it be possible for one tradesperson to do them all or would I need a gardener and handyman?
The jobs are putting up four curtain poles and maybe a couple of shelves, and digging out a couple of hedge/bushes.
Also what are my chances of actually getting someone who'd agree to do such small jobs? I've struggled in the past and just given up but I really do need it doing.
(I'm disabled and can't do the jobs myself. I've just ballsed up trying to do a small curtain rail so I've given up hope of doing it myself).

It is entirely possible for these jobs to be done by one person. However, you are most likely to find that the person who is prepared to do them is a handyman rather than a tradesman.
I have a retired gentleman who is a DIY person, and he does work in my garden as well as the smaller DIY type jobs for me. Perhaps you have someone similar who lives near to you.
I found my gardener / handyman on Streetlife, but you could also ask on your local community Facebook page.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Ask your neighbours who does there odd jobs. Both jobs you need doing I would say a general handy person0

I've got to agree with the above posters. This sort of thing is bread 'n' butter for a decent "general handyman". As always, ask friends and neighbours, or a local community Facebook page, for recommendations.0

Thanks, I'll try contacting some handymen and look on Streetlife.
I don't talk to my neighbours, they're mostly drug dealers, addicts and prostitutes so I doubt they'd have any recommendations anway!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Do you work? Do you have any local friends?
Curtain poles and shelves are the sort of thing I'd do for free for a friend. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

No and no, unfortunately.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
In some areas Age UK or WVS have volunteer handy person schemes.
Your local council trading standards might have a trusted trader scheme which would be more reliable than some of the find-a-trader type websites.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Thank, but I'm too young for AgeUK, and I don't fit the client profile for most of the charities that offer help.
The council does have a listings website (the Leeds Directory), although I'm not sure if they vet the people who advertise on it. I'll look there as my first port of call.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Post where abouts you are, someone might be along offering to trim your bush so to speak.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

You really need a decent 'odd job' person...if you were local to me I would happily do those jobs for you, a trader wouldn't because it isn't economically viable.
Hit and miss I know, but try looking in your local paper or freebie local rag/ newsagents window for odd jobsters.
Whilst some may be full of !!!!! and con artists there may be a decent genuine 'odd job' person advertising.
Ask them to do you a quote and hopefully your instinct will weadle out the shisters.
Good luck
