Cheapest BT Sports (HD) via Sky Box?

Having had BT Sports (HD) through my Sky box at £10.99 for the last year or so, I'm now being told that the best they can do is £19.99.

I'm not interested in having phone or broadband through BT, I just want the HD sport through my Sky Box.

Has anyone managed to get a better deal than £19.99 (including a forthcoming price hike I'm told) and if so, how please? I've given them 31 days notice, and am considering my options.

TIA

Considering the advertised price is £27.99 a month then £19.99 isn't too bad considering BT aren't known for existing customer offers!

It's not really in BTs benefit to reduce the price as they want people to have their broadband. If you don't want to do that, then they will certainly make you pay for it!
  • Sure. It's just quite a hike from £10.99!

It is, and the reason is to try and get more people onto their BB. Plus no doubt it is more expensive for them to have a Sky based viewer than a BT TV based viewer.

Having said that, it's not just non BT customers that are having the price hikes. The cost of BT Sport for BT customers is gradually going up as well.

Started off free for BT customers, then free only if you were in a 12/18 month contract for BB and TV, and now from 1st August even that group will have to start paying for it (£3.50 I believe).

Currently £12.50 in HD via Sky and Plusnet. But no AMC or online access.

No idea, I pay Plusnet for BT Sport and Sky for everything else separately. However is on a 30 day contract so I will have the option to cancel if I wish.

Sky don't provide BT Sport, or re-sell it to their customers.

Since Sky customers pay BT directly for BT Sport, any price hike will doubtless mirror those for BT customers.

When I rang BT to cancel my phoneline and broadband with them following their recent price hike, I got a better deal than I currently had with them

I specifically asked if BT Sport Lite would continue to be free for broadband users still in contract for the length of the contract and I was assured that was the case.

I shall be keeping a watch on my account to ensure such a charge doesn't get added as I have no intention of paying for it (I only watch the odd football match).

But Lite is a much watered down version of BT Sport, so not really comparable to what the OP was after. Which in turn was what I was commenting on.

However, if BT see a large defection in subscribers from BT Sport to BT Sport Lite due to the new charges, I wouldn't be surprised if they either start charging for Lite or get rid of that option completely!
