it will keep on escaping until you put padlocks on the door - I had to do it with mine too. The ones that come in Christmas crackers or suitcases are an ideal size I think. Also watch out for its ball - mine has managed to figure out how to open that too now and has to be duck-taped in every day  :rotfl:The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

If your poor hamsters are trying to escape all the time, I would think that they are very bored and dont have enough room to run about as they want to.
Im sure you are the same in that you wouldnt want to be locked in the same room day in day out. Can you not get a bigger run for him and let him have the run of a room for a time every day?0 -
it's a hamster thing to try to get out , i find the ball thing a bit boring for the little thing as 30 mins running = 1 hour just walking about alot for a little hammy , my hammy has about 5 mins in ball , then i let him loose in a room , with boots and shoes about so he climbs in them , fell asleep in boot once , i thought he got out of room . i leave little treats for him to find , after about 10 mins he is asleep in tight ball some where. i often sit in room with him with jacket on 'so he climbs up in side the jacket. he loves that. ahhhh dear little thingsthe truth is out there ... on these pages !!0

Well we used to let him out in the back bedroom where his cage is but it's a bit of a junk yard at the moment, we're going to have a good clean out tomorrow and then let him run around again. To be honest I didn't know that other people let their hamsters run around like that.
He can't escape now, we've put the cage up against the wall and put something on the top so he can't get out that way. He has escaped from his ball once but he came back to me when I shouted him, we got him a new ball because he'd banged that one against the wall so many times it was knackered. This one is a bit more sturdy:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

Safest place for a houdini hampster at night is in the bath... :rotfl: I mean you put the cage in the bath, they can't climb the sides if they manage to escape....but wear themselves out trying..:D#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Lots of levels and tubes and stuff to climb and gnaw at... toilet roll and kitchen roll inners are great for keeping them amused - if you get a big enough cage try connecting them up making an inside maze of tubes for him - highly amusing to watch tooDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! I've put mine in the bath before now while I clean the cage out - it was quite funny watching him run up the sides and slide back down again while he was waiting though :rotfl:The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Hes calmed down a bit now bless him, wasn't half as bad last night. I've got loads of toilet roll tubes (can't seem to throw them away) and shoes and things he can climb in/threw and there's a sofabed in there that he likes to climb up on to.
I cleaned his cage out yesterday and found two chocolates in there, you know like out of tin or box. I'm really annoyed because I think that my MIL or her husband must have given them to him as they're the only people who have been round since we last cleaned him out. What a stupid thing to do, give a hamster chocolates!!
I'm gonna put him in the bath later....just to see how funny it is :rotfl::heart: Think happy & you'll be happy
