Has it got a little hamster house, or do you just put the material in and it makes a little den?
One of my hamsters was a little monkey, I'd put new bedding in his house after I cleaned it out, and he pull it all out and make his bed in a totally unsuitable place (one of his tunnels for instance) I used to just pull it back out and put it back in his house, It had his smell all over it so I don't think he minded.0 -
Thanks.
I think I will try a 3 pronged attack at the weekend!
I'm going to buy a hamster loo, move the wheel and rather revoltingly try to get the loo to smell like her wee so she thinks she already 'goes' there!0 -
wow i had no idea you could toilet train hamsters! just had a look at that link and its soooo cute! just had a little giggle looking at the little thing on his loo. awwww i want one now haha
good luck with the training, let us know how u get onWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Is the wheel detachable from the cage? If so I would tip the pee into a corner and hopefully she will smell it and go there.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

I had this problem with my hamster, he used to pee in his tubes (when you have just cleaned the cage).
Eventually, I removed the tubes & waited until he had done his business in a corner, then reattached them. As long as his corner was cleaned daily, he would do his wee there.0 -
We appear to be having success with the removal of the wheel and tipping some of the wee into some chinchilla sand - but I guess we will see once I put the wheel back on tomorrow!
Reading some of the other posts - when she runs (rather than wees in the wheel) she arches her back - does this mean it is too small?
Also some people say they let their hamster run loose in their room - is that not a bit dangerous where there are wires and cables?
Love the bath idea - may do that tonight!0 -

I bought one of those balls that you put the hamster in and let it run round the room in that. Also comes with a stand so they kind of run on the spot.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
My Website is running a competition to win a free Wodent Wheel at the moment if any of you guys are interested!?

The website tracks the progress of my hamster Horatio as he virtually hikes the UK!0 -

your wheel may be too small - I've only seen one cage that comes with the decent sized wheel. I prefer a large rolly wheel that you can get in pets at home. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
i find wodent wheels to be the best! The junior version is 8" in diameter which is perfect for a syrian hamster
