Do watch the prices change SUBSTANTIALLY on AO.com, when Currys or whoever, have a special offer on one of their models.

I was thinking of John Lewis. Are ao.com good to buy from?

How much should I pay for a mid-range one? The prices seem to vary considerably.

    We got ours from currys.

I'd advise either going for a plumbed one, or one without a dispenser at all.

We went for one without a dispenser. We just didn't like the size that the the water dispenser and ice maker takes up in the freezer. If we're bothered we just fill a jug and put it in the fridge.

We paid about £700 for our LG about 10 years ago, they seem to be much the same nowadays. I can't think what extra you get in the £3000 ones!
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Maybe they do your shopping and cook the dinner as well!

AO seem to have their prices vary day by day, by several hundred £££, sometimes - I've been looking recently, but not ready to buy just yet.

John Lewis dont have so many to choose from and seem to have some with shorter warranties, than AO.

I've had both Samsung and LG in previous houses, the LG was in gloss black and the paint finish was super smooth compared to some, with a less than smooth finish. Both worked fine.

The more expensive models boast superior cooling and better control, so it's worth watching the demonstration videos on AO, to see which suit you more.

I like the extra door idea, but it might actually be an inconvenience, in real life, on

    Too many too choose, really!!

Wherever you buy from be sure to check the delivery terms / conditions regarding delivery. We bought a Samsung model in November of last year and. in the small print, lots of online retailers had a specific delivery exclusion for American Fridge Freezers. Most would only deliver to a driveway or garage. There was no option to upgrade delivery to inside delivery.

The one we went for in the end had two man delivery as an upgrade option (around £30 IIRC) but this included unpacking it and taking off doors if needed and reassembling / installing as required.

We deliberately opted for non plumbed in without dispensers. I do not wish to drink tap water or have it made into ice! Prefer to buy ice in bags from the supermarket (crushed or clear cubes) and have a water cooler in the lounge which is fad more effective for us to drink from than having to go to the kitchen where we simply don't spend most of our time. It also means even my toddler can get a drink if she wants to.

with prices they go up and down all the time and then you have the manufacturers cashbacks.

best to watch prices for a while.

if pricespy has your shortlist models you can get an idea of the price ranges. and look out for a low point.

I've just measured the doorway and at 64cm I can see that I'll have trouble getting the Samsung I was looking at into the house.

I'll have a more detailed look at various models and their depth, but may have to get a normal fridge instead.
