I'll aim for £200 again, even though I missed it by a mile, it's what I want to spend ideally and hopefully we can get closer to it this month!
This is for all meals for two adults and two children, toiletries and household/cleaning products.0 -
Hi all x
Thanks for the new thread!
I'm in for April with a budget of £400 that's for 5 of us and Mr Mac.
I'm going to stick a wee notebook in my bag to write things down at the time rather than try to remember later!I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Hi! I'm still on March but I don't want to forget the new challenge as well. My month goes strictly by calendar.
I'm declaring $AU1000 again: four people, 2 cats, some chickens (I include their food on the groceries category line), all cleaning products and toiletries. I just missed this target last month, but I bought some extras that won't be used until April so that's a positive.MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 20360 -
I'm back in, declaring a budget of £450 for 4 adults, 3 cats, 11 chickens and 2 cockatiels, please! But the forum software has stopped working with my Mac, so I can't do colours, bold, italic, emoticons or anything else much at the moment, so I'm hoping the Mods will pick this up anyway...?
Thank you!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

I've done a stupid stupid thing.
Last week on the old thread I explained about a ridiculously busy and horrible week.
I got paid Friday.
I hadn't had chance to work out budgets or plans etc and I had a busy weekend.
I've totally blown my budgets I had in mind.
From here on in, yes, 3 days into my April, I'm on damage control.
I can't quite believe it, but I've spent £120.70 on food.
That's right.
It's because I made the EPIC MISTAKE of going to Waitrose specificaly to look at their vegan food, then I bought ALL OF IT. I spent £86!!! On loads of tofu and stuff, but also tons of uneeded and unnecessary junk like ice creams and chocolate. I could cry, I feel so horrible about it.
BUT it's done now. I have no meal plan but my fridge is groaning. I do meal plans on a Tuesday and shop on a Thursday, and I can eat stuff from the fridge Tue and Wed so no need to plan.
I've done it on my spending money budget too - I usually have about £100 a month on a good month. I've blown £140! In 3 days!! Admittedly £18 on a purse for me as I desperately needed a new one (cue the jokes about not having anything to put in it now!!) and £34 on restocking make up (not extravagent, I only wear basics and I get it on 3 for 2...this was planned). But other than that it's stupid things like buying drinks at the pub for me and my friend and her two girls... nearly £20 there! I feel so ashamed and worried.
BUT I recognise that I have to be REALLY good the rest of this month... I have to be or else I'll be borrowing money and I DO NOT want to do that!
SO, I'm going for a total of £200 for April please. 24th March to 26th April.
That gives me £79 to play with, which is really quite generous considering I have all the "protein-y" bits I will need.
Off to berate myself some more while making a delicious tea that I won't appreciate because really I couldn't afford itI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
