  • If you still have an alcohol problem I can quite believe it. That's a sure fire way of paying lots of taxes.

No, no longer a problem. The consultant told me that if I continued as I was I would have been dead within 6 months, so I packed it all in overnight. It was hard,
My main vice now is smoking which I am trying to stop. Just taking it day by day by not buying any.
  • Cyclamen - I live just outside of Glasgow and I don't even know if we have a Wilkinsons. I have heard of them and been in them in England but iv never seen one when iv been out in Glasgow city centre or in my little town

  • Boom, thankyou for that, my nearest one is clydebank. I'm not sure how easy that is to get to with public transport as I no longer drive and my friend doesn't drive.
For me to even get to Glasgow Its a 15-20 min walk to train station and I can only go when my friend has a day off as she works full time as well as looking after me. Iv been to clydebank once I think about 4 years ago lol
I always thought Wilkinsons was an English company too
  • Sorry auto correct changed your name to boom

ive always kept my DLA separate to 'normal' income, even when i was able to work.

it scares the hell out of me to become dependant on it day to day, knowing that it could be taken away at any point.

im not one for luxuries, so it works better for me that way.

i got a letter from the county council telling me that my co fund was increasing as of aApril.

its increased 25% in the last 3 years, so I'm lucky that i can afford to separate it really
my co fund is now 75% of my DLA for 22 hours a week, leaving 25% to cover the other 146 hours a week

I would say that what you are doing is the right and proper way to manage your DLA/PIP payments.
I am surprised that some actually lump it together with other income. With some of the reasons I have seen on here, there is no way that everyone spends the full amount on specific costs only relating to their disabilities. Personally if I hadn't been in the position of not needing the money I would have had a hell of a job spending all £110 of it every week of the year on specific costs only arising out of a disability.
There is a need for the government to look into this particular situation. Just handing over money irrespective of whether it is all needed for the reasons it is given is just plain daft.

Again, Rockingbilly, put your money where your mouth is,

You admit you don't need it, so give yours up if you feel so strongly about others getting it when they don't need it.

    I can't give up what I don't get!

Well you did get it, and you had no problem with receiving it, even though you admit you didn't need it.

    Your still a hypocrite.
