We have tried loads of different colors. Grey's are very in at the moment which will mean that they will be very out in a few years time. In fact they already say that navy / dark blue is the new grey ???? Who knew?

In the end we always end up back on Overtly Olive. It is a warm mid green and it makes the kitchen always seem ultra welcoming. Grey can if used wrong seem very clinical. That may be your thing but for us we wanted warm family kitchen and the green can be paired down with accessories which are always cheaper.

Both are good choices but for me has to be the olive colour.

Again it will depend what the rest of your home is painted in as you will want the rooms to follow to make the space seem bigger.

Can not find a picture of a kitchen but here is a bathroom. maxresdefault.jpg

from what i read a cooler tone of colour makes a small room appear bigger which is why i went for a soft grey.

Me too. Mosaic tiles would be a pain to clean I imagine.

what about option 2? its only the splashback area behind hob. so not a lot of area. would that be better?

If you have a lot of light? also will depend on the rest of your home. Again I stress you definitely don't want to go from grey to green to yellow as I think the designers have a word for it but basically it is a colour shock and makes the follow??? Any way it does not work.

Don't get me wrong we have just decorated a big office building in you guessed it 50 shades of grey with black and white floor tiles, lots of exposed wood and steel and god it looks amazing very vintage industrial which is super hot right now. Just not sure if I would want it is my own home?

    Ref tiles ?

If it is only a splash back ?? Then even if you want to change them in few years it is not going to cost a bomb. Just remember as previous post, mosaic will look amazing but may not be as practical.

thanks. the kitchen does have a lot of sunlight. its south-west facing. i tried the sample of polished pebble which is grey, and it looks almost white. so i dont think i have anything to worry about there.

as to splashback, yes i can always change it if tiled and wont cost much. however im thinking about how it will look. i think the safer option is to just go wit hthe worktop splachback rather then tile for a more neater look. it is a more modern style kitchen i am after.

so really struggling to decide on splashback. going for white (with speckles) quartz with upstands. quesiton is do i go for:

    a) quartz splashback behind hob

    or

    b) coloured glass splashback behind hob (and which colour?)

those are the only two options. what would you go for? i painted the walls polished pebble (light grey)

    thanks

just finished the kitchen and I gotto say I am VERY impressed by it!

went for quartz worktop and upstands (no splashback), and polished pebble walls. the kitchen looks modern yet homely and clean. very impressed! at least now I have a dishwasher, extractor hood and an electric oven rather then gas!
