Mortgage and moving house

Hi All,
Myself and my husband bought a house in December and since then we have both been refused credit. We have not missed any payments on anything or paid anything late. I was refused a new phone contract with O2 which seems ridiculous considering we were just allowed a £300k mortgage and I wanted a £12 a month sim only contract :-( My credit rating is now 4 on Equifax which was a shock.
Is it common for this to happen when moving? What can I do to improve this? Obviously not applying for any credit will help but any other ways to help it?

Sign up with those 3 and then come back and tell us what they say.
I have never heard of a '4' score with Equifax either.
It could just be that because you've moved recently and not on the electoral roll at your new place yet, that time may be the only factor here and you just have to wait it out.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. +1 for the not being on the electoral roll. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

What do you mean by 4? A credit score of 4?
But yes, it's probably the electoral roll. If you say you live somewhere, and your credit file says differently, it's an immediate red flag for fraud which may cause rejections.
Presuming this is the reason, get yourself on the electoral roll and wait until reports from all three agencies have your updated address. Don't apply for any further credit until then though, as everytime you do, it adds a mark to your report which is considered a minor negative.0 -
How come your not on the electoral roll yet ? Would explain the issues if your not.0

Thanks for the replies.
Not too sure why everyone thinks we are not on the electoral roll as I made no mention of this on my post. I have in fact applied for us both to be changed on the roll back in December straight after moving . I do think it's the address change that's the issue as both our credit files have our old address as our current address with us linked to our new address. How do I get this updated? Also the house is a new build so a new address, not sure if that makes a difference?
And yes my equifax credit score is now 4 as in the no 4. We have no adverse credit as checked all CRA's prior to getting the mortgage and checked again today, nothing missed or flagged on the credit agreements.0
