Ditching TV licence and the BBC weather site

After an abysmal couple of months of TV where I only watched 11 programs in total I'm considering ditching my TV licence when its up for renewal in June.
My question relates to the BBC weather site. I look at the online weather reports by the BBC daily, including the video. Is this OK without a licence? I think it is but I don't want to find out later that the video part is powered by iplayer or something similar.
Anyone know if I'm okay watching the BBC weather reports this way?

The bbc weather website is a service from the bbc. Also do you listen to bbc radio? I think the tv licence is very good value for money. When compared to Sky and Virgin Media.0

If you are just looking at the BBC website weather then you don't need a license - only need one if you like watching Carol Kirkwood in full colour !!:)
Also don't need a TV license to listen to radio !0 -
Its an outdated tax that should be illegal, don't pay it!0

Don't really understand how it's outdated? Paying for BBC iPlayer which is modern technology.0

In a sense its an outdated tax because it supports the BBC which used to be the only cab on the rank.
Does seem inherently wrong that someone paying for Virgin or Sky for their TV service has to support the Corporation as well when they may never watch BBC programmes.0 -

You don't need a TV licence to use a weather site or listen to radio.
Definitely worth getting rid of it if you don't watch TV. BBC programmes sometimes appear on YouTube, which you can watch without a TV licence.0 -
It comes down to what kind of content it is:-
- If it's effectively a catch-up of a weather "programme" taken from one of the on-air channels, then you possibly need a Licence.
- If it's been created specifically for the weather site, then you probably don't need a Licence.
The reason why it isn't definitive is because it also depends on whether iPlayer is the delivery mechanism, and that isn't clear.0 -
Its exactly the same weather report as on the BBC news channel.
First port of call then is to look for another online weather site.
Thanks

If you have a smart mobile phone which they nearly all are nowadays then get a weather app instead. Some even have radar maps as well. They can have hourly forecasts based on your location which can be very handy if you travel a lot. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0
